Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to NICOLAS HOSPITAEL. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi NICOLAS, thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
The epiphany struck me during a profound moment of introspection amidst a personal development coaching session. It is worth noting that my upbringing and education were rather typical of a quintessential “millennial” way – Get a nice diploma so you can get a nice job. However, I realized that when I started university, I didn’t know where to go. Faced with the imperative to choose a path, I tried and experienced different paths. Mechanic engineering, commerce, then business. I realized along the way that I was actually figuring out what I didn’t like, which was a good thing but I still remained uncertain of what path I was meant to pursue.
Even upon attaining a Master’s degree in International Business Management, the mist of uncertainty persisted. Thus, in a quest for clarity and self-realization, I resolved to seek guidance through personal development coaching.
It was during one of these sessions, marked by a seemingly simple yet profound question posed by my coach – “What would you pursue if external voices held no sway, and if all the resources you could desire were readily at your disposal?” – that is when a revelation burst forth within me like a brilliant sunbeam.
Acting!
From that pivotal moment onward, I embarked on a diligent journey of exploration, immersing myself in internships and educational pursuits to ascertain the suitability of this newfound passion. It was during this process that a transformative epiphany dawned upon me, redirecting the trajectory of my career toward a more creative and artistic path.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a French actor who relocated to Los Angeles in October 2018. Interestingly, my roots lie in the realm of business, which may seem like an unusual transition. However, I am convinced that there are others who share a similar journey, and I aspire for my narrative to strike a chord with yours. I believe that my two best assets in this very competitive industry are my positivity and patience. Indeed, I would describe my most prominent attribute as my unwavering commitment to maintaining a positive demeanor and extending kindness to all. I’ve come to understand that these qualities are considered indispensable in this industry. Furthermore, we find ourselves in an era where nearly everything can be acquired instantaneously. In the realm of entertainment and cinema, we are often influenced by the rapid ascent of young talents, leading us to believe that emulating their trajectory is the key to success. Hence, I hold the belief that my patience and unwavering resilience stand as formidable strengths within this industry.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
My belief is that being an artist is experiencing life to the fullest. We train our brain and body to experience emotions, sensations, and ideas three to four times more than the average person. In doing so, we live every moment of our lives with such intensity that the experience and the knowledge we get from it are incredibly rewarding. Also, the fun part of being an actor is that you get to live different lives as well.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
“The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck” by Mark Manson.
This book has given me the gift of lifting a lot of the pressure that society builds up on our shoulders along the way.
It is also full of tips for self-improvement and self-management.
