We were lucky to catch up with Nicolas Arturo recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nicolas , appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
When it comes to the craft performing arts, I like to think of it as wearing the white belt in martial arts, specially the acting craft is so mysterious that I’ve learned that every part of me navigates different to get to that “click of connection” with a moment of truth.
Learning for me is not about speed, I consider myself a slow learner but I will say that an openness and approaching new sunbelts with childlike wonder helps me “shut down” the voice in my mind that has opinions about everything.
My ego is a constant obstacle to this day, and what I mean by that is the part of myself that gets in the way of creativity: “my desire to be xyz, my insecurities, aiming for perfection, need to feel important etc
My biggest obstacle is comfort when it comes to the art of exploration, my body wants to stay with the familiar, what I know it works, steeping up of that cozy coach both physically and intellectually it’s a constant challenge.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
How do you get into the industry? It’s a mysterious secret.
I have no clue.
That young 18 year old who build his way through Bogota Theatre and ended up in the midst of San Fernando Valley knocking on the door of wild city’s quite brother with the first beautiful lesson that LA had for me. I had to look for it, I wish I knew it will present itself to me, when I was willing to dig in and put myself self out there, no one was going to do it for me.
My expertise lies in the art of not knowing. Then curiosity sparks. My job relies on the art of being contagious. Contagious of that curiosity, of creating something personal through writing, through acting, through practicing the art of creativity.
All of us have the ability to connect with their creative self, with the limitless, with the playful. I´m an expert in taking charge of my creative life by building those space for myself and my community, my purpose is to hopefully infect people to get in touch with theirs. Being a contagious and collaborative creative outlet
My organization, runs by the ideals of having that creative release materialized. Help people understand their creative vision. Shutting down the voice that critics beforehand, the blocks my own creative flow, get in the zone. Family, union, tribe. For me is not based on a group of people is very similar to each other but who complements and recognizes each others virtues and flaws to use them in the purpose of enhancing the communal experience, to draw the mirror of society and vomit it’s reality through representation.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
I’m a big fan of reading first hand from people I look up to, dig into their philosophy and tools. Leslie Odom Jr, better known for his role as Aaron Burr in Hamilton, is one of them. 2026 was my year to read his book, Failing up, how to take risks, aim higher and never stop learning. There´s one quote from that book I have tattooed on my brain “exploration is the mission, give yourself permission to fail” Sounds beautiful right?
Training it on the other side, burns like a bee bite but it’s freeing like shaving your head. Because when I put the aim on the exploration and not on the result, I start taking the process for what it is.. a journey, in the creative world, there’s everything to win if the goal is to explore, you become bolder, reckless, and start to exercise for the delight of it, for unraveling what your body and soul are craving, the unknown.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Starting with the micro, the macro will follow. I take this question personal, because then it becomes a matter of what can we do as a collective and not them as if I was pointing in the distance. Have you seen a surgeon doing an open heart surgery with delicacy and extreme tact on tv shows? for me that’s the way other´s people creative journey´s should be treated. Our words have an immeasurable power to give confidence and encouragement or to completely pinch the tires or someone´s creative release.
Listening and acknowledgement creates a safe space for a constructive and expressive environment. It’s not like it has to be interpretation free, but recognizing when our personal opinion should be shared. I’m grateful for the mentors who got me excited about my own work, my under the sleeve underdog, flawed characters, more than I was, because it was fuel and fuel has compound interest, it reciprocates. Micro is giving fuel to others, micro is supporting your local community experiences, the stranger at the bus, the concierge, my senior aunt who does accounting, your friend who wants sto adventure as a stand up comedian.
We can start by taking micro resistance, micro fuel in our own ecosystems, the rest will follow.
