We were lucky to catch up with Nicola Bleu recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Nicola thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you take us back in time to the first dollar you earned as a creative – how did it happen? What’s the story?

Honestly becoming an influencer was not part of the plan. It started off more as an interest/hobby, but ended up becoming a source of income. And honestly all started after I saw my TikTok video telling me to take the chance or lose the opportunity. That’s when I begin to research more on how I could grow my social media presents as a fashion and beauty influencer, which is what I am interested in. I began to reach out to numerous brands and companies and receive a lot of rejection by continue to reach out until finally. I got my first yes from “Dolld”. I was so enthusiastic that I got my pictures out for them as soon as possible and received my first commission check. It wasn’t that much, but it motivated me to keep going. I started hearing back from more and more brands with more and more offers. Now the sky is the limit I’ve been accepted onto vogue photos to upload photos and worked with big brands like Akira and I have no one to think but God who has helped me along this journey and will continue to help me grow .

Nicola, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My name is Nicola Bleu. I am a 21 year old fashion and beauty influencer.. I’ve been doing this for about three years now I honestly got into the industry as more of a hobby a way to pass time until I started making some money. and began to make it into a source of income. I will say it is easy it’s a lot of time and work that goes into each and every post and collaboration. Time management is your best friend. Most of the brand want pictures and videos out as soon as you receive the product which realistically is impossible when you’re also a full-time college student. But getting out within a reasonable timeframe for me is 3 to 7 days and having discipline with that has really helped me. I recently started providing a service where I teach future influencers and creators how to set up social media, pages to successfully grow their pages. One of my main goal on my social media is the young black woman that we are beautiful despite was society think of us. I try to go for more modest fashion. Fashion exposed too much because I believe you don’t have to be naked to show your beauty. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. One of the things I most proud of is how far is gotten off of just being me and my hard work Unique is one of the main things that will help you succeed on social media as an influencer because you want people to follow after your steps how can that be possible if you’re following under someone else. The main thing I’m looking for right now is to broaden my expand onto runway fashion, as well as my audience will follow me on this journey

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The most important aspect of being a creator/influencer is knowing that I’m inspiring someone somewhere to be their best possible self to continue to try harder and whatever life goes their way and that they have the same potential to do what I’m doing. It just requires hard work and having God as your foundation.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

A lesson that I learned I had to unlearn is not to just focus my whole social media presents on one thing for example fashion, but to make it broad under the same category. Initially what I was doing was only With fashion brands. But I Realized that I could still do what I loved, but In a broad aspect. Now I do fashion, beauty, hair, and skin care.
