We recently connected with Nico Kang and have shared our conversation below.
Nico, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
when I was around 11 years old my older sister introduced me to artists like Skrillex, Deadmau5, and Dillon francis. I began to obsess over their music and i would watch youtube videos of them performing. At this young age I was truly inspired by the artists I watched.
From this point forward I began to work on Djing and music production. For many years I spent my free time watching tutorials and listening to music to help develop my ears better.
During high school my music taste changed and i found myself listening to more dubstep. I was craving the aggressive angry sounds of dubstep. I wanted to go deep down into the rabbit hole of dubstep and so I did!
After I graduated High school I went to my first rave! The show was intense and so much fun. I had goosebumps from the pure excitement, and i knew that Djing was something I was meant to do.
Nico, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was booked for my first show in 2021 For a warehouse Party. I was nervous but also very excited to DJ. After this first show the bookings kept coming and I was soon Djing at Night Clubs in the Sf Bay Area.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being an artist is knowing that i’m creating something special when I perform. The atmosphere is also rewarding because the crowd shows me energy, which is a good compliment!
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
The best thing for society to do to support Creators is to share music with each other. It’s also important to experience live music, and go to your favorite artists concerts.
