Nico , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?
The year was 2013, I was a recent college drop out , still living in my college town. The town was filled with college students and not enough jobs to go around so I’’d started doing hair in my living room to make a ends meet. In that time I was still hanging out with my friends and hitting the social scene, I was the friend that was always responsible for everybody’s make up. No matter the occasion I always knew it would be my job to help my girls get their faces together for the night ahead and at the time that’s all make up was to me. That all changed the day my friend Haley ❤️ asked me one question and I had no idea that question would change my life and the course of my career forever. Haley asked me “hey sis, how much are you charging for graduation make up?” CHARGING?!?! I never saw Makeup has some thing that I could make money from until that day and that’s the day that everything changed! That was the day Dymynd Beauty was born !

With over 8 years of industry experience, NicoDymynd is a budding beauty boss on the rise in the Atlanta GA area. She got her start as a freelance Makeup Artist on the campus of Florida A&M University once she ended her college career to pursue her creative dreams.
After building a lucrative clientele in Florida, Nico moved her business Back to Atlanta. Since her return to the city, Nico was Hired for MAC Cosmetics gaining certified, product specialist, and management status In under three years all while maintaining her freelance business.
In 2020 Nico created The Dymynd Beauty Brand Ltd. Co is a personal serviced based makeup, hair and skincare company dedicated to elevating the confidence and esteem of women of all ages through simple beauty enhancements a thoughtful organic skincare products. Like lipgloss and lip liner combos “Dymynd Shine” and “Dymynd Line.”
During the pandemic, Nico was able to complete cosmetology school and gained a Master Cosmetology License and incorporated hair styling into the business.
Nico has been blessed to work on set of some of the most notable music videos and movies of the last three years and I constantly building her resume.
In 2022 Nico created The Dymynd Academy , an online beauty education community with the goal to build confidence and promote self-love through beauty and cosmetic enthusiasm! Whether you are a beginning makeup artist looking to grow your brand and skill set, a beauty lover, or working professional looking to polish your look;Nico has a course for you. The Dymynd Academy uses a “building block” methodology when teaching beauty and branding concepts and gives you the small tools you need to reach the overall goal while having fun and contributing to a safe space of love, culture, and community.
With a plethora of satisfied clients, bridal parties, proms, professional photoshoots, video productions and more under her belt Nico is ready to share TheDymyndTechnique with all of you!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
As a makeup artist and hair stylist, the most rewarding part of my job is the moment I put the mirror in front of a client’s face. The moment his/her eyes light up is everything to me!!! It’s better than money. To witness the instant confidence boost in real time over and over again is beyond rewarding.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
From a creative to a non creative, I would only wish to share one thing, EMBRACE THE GRAY! We all hear about this truly unknown space in the world and in our minds labeled as the “gray area.” The gray area can be confusing and uncertain for some and filled with excitement and optimism for others. But The gray area is where a creative lives, it’s the perfect and sometimes only way to explain the mind of a truly creative person. In order to fully understand and embrace a creative, a noncreative has to be open to the gray area. While the traits of a non creative person in their black and white practicality are some that we all could stand to adopt, don’t be afraid to sprinkle a little gray area magic in there too!
