We were lucky to catch up with Nicky Stefan recently and have shared our conversation below.

Nicky, appreciate you joining us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?

I hope to leave a legacy built on the healing power of music. As a singer-songwriter, my aim is to create songs that reflect real-life experiences, providing a source of comfort and connection for those going through tough times. I want to be remembered as an artist who kept it real, sharing genuine stories without hiding behind masks.

In my role as a singing teacher, I want to leave a mark by helping students not just with technical skills but also in expressing their feelings through their voice and lyrics. I hope to be known as a teacher who encouraged authenticity and self-expression.

In essence, I want my legacy to be one where people remember the healing impact of my music, finding solace in the lyrics, and where my students carry forward the lessons of connecting with themselves through music.

Hello, I’m Nicky Stefan, a singer-songwriter and singing teacher with a lifelong passion for music. My journey began at the age of 8, and by 14, I was studying music at the university in Moscow, Russia. Fast forward to 18, and I embarked on a teaching career that has spanned over a decade.

In the realm of music, my goal is to offer more than just songs; I aim to provide an immersive experience for my audience. As a songwriter, I weave my life story into lyrics, creating a unique and authentic connection with listeners. Each song becomes a chapter, inviting others to share in the emotions and experiences that shape my music.

As a singing teacher, my approach goes beyond vocal coaching. I empower my students with exercises that enable them to express their emotions through their music, fostering a genuine connection with their audience. It’s not just about hitting the right notes; it’s about conveying a story, a feeling, and making a lasting impact.

What sets me apart is the emphasis on authenticity in both my songwriting and teaching. I believe in creating a space where individuals can explore and express their true selves through music. I take pride in offering an experience that goes beyond traditional music instruction, nurturing creativity and connection.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

In my teenage years, I faced the tough challenges of battling anorexia and depression. Growing up quickly, I took on a music career at just 14, coupled with a perfectionist mindset that added to the weight on my shoulders.

Despite these struggles, I found strength in resilience. These difficult moments, although daunting at the time, became a wellspring of inspiration for my music. They gave me a unique perspective, allowing me to connect with others going through similar hardships.

The experience with mental health issues became a powerful motivation for my art. I turned my pain into a purpose, using my music as a way to reach people who might be going through tough times. This journey, though challenging, shaped me as an artist and as an individual.

In sharing my story through music, I hope to show that resilience isn’t just about enduring difficulties but also finding strength and purpose in them. It’s a reminder that even in the darkest moments, there’s potential for growth, understanding, and the possibility of inspiring others on their own journey of overcoming challenges

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

The most impactful source of new clients for me has been the quality of the service I provide. Having a solid product, in my case, effective singing lessons, has proven to be the key. When people are genuinely satisfied with the experience and progress they make, they become enthusiastic advocates. Word-of-mouth referrals, where satisfied students share their positive experiences, have consistently brought in new clients. It’s a testament to the idea that a happy customer becomes a valuable ambassador for the service, creating a natural and organic growth in my student community.
