Nicki, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the story behind how you got your first job in field that you currently practice in.

While at my job in medical sales , I was preparing for a client event and had our giveaway cancel a few days before the event . I quickly stepped In and ordered a bunch of gummies and supplies and made my own gummies for the event . It was such a massive hit I immediately knew I had something big on my hands . Everyone wanted to know where they could order them from and KandyLane was born!

Nicki, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Hi! I am Nicki Ilie , the owner and founder of Kandy Lane DC. I started Kandy Lane in 2022. I was in medical sales and had an upcoming dinner event with 75 clients . I was desperately trying to come up with an out of the box gift or experience instead of cookies or cakes with the company’s branded name on it and Kandy Lane was born!

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

Posting on social media has really fueled Kandy Lane. When I initially started the company I selected a few key social media influencers that I loved and followed and send out a bunch of PR packages . To my surprise they all ended up loving the gummies and posting them . Kandy Lane is super instagrammable so I’m sure that helped :)

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

When Kandy Lane started I had a full time job as well. It was very hard to get the company off the ground when I was only working on it during nights and weekends . I spent a LOT of time up in our loft area of my house packaging candy , ordering , etc . Time management was very challenging but things have gotten much easier as I have figured out ways to streamline my ordering process. I’ve also hired people to help me with packaging when I get super busy!
