Nickell, Evelyn and Devin, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard

Lip Print Beauty Bar was birthed to be different. We set out to do something unique and outside of the box within the cosmetic industry. Our business is for all lipstick/lip gloss lovers who seek to create their own lipsticks/lip gloss from start to finish. We like to say, “The freshest lipstick/lip gloss you will ever have!” Our customers or “Lip Print Beauties” get to experience mixing and blending their own lip products. During our lipstick/lip gloss workshops, each customer selects multiple pigment colors, mixes and blends the colors together to create a custom lip color/shade. We like to think of this process similar to “mixing paint colors on a palette”. Customers are then allowed to sample their lip color and customize the color to the perfect shade. Customers then select special add-ons for their lip product such as, flavors, lip plumper, sunscreen, scents, frosts, and/or glitter. Women of all ages, who are looking for new and interesting ways to socialize and bond with friends, family, co-workers, and/or women’s groups, find Lip Print Beauty Bar to be a blast and a one-of-a-kind experience.

Nickell, Evelyn and Devin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Lip Print Beauty Bar was created to empower women to be their own unique kind of beautiful. Lip Print Beauty Bar was started by three friends Felecia, Evelyn, and Devin, who all share a love for makeup. We sought out to create an exclusive experience that brings women together creating make-up which is something many other women share a love for as well. We chose the name “Lip Print” because we wanted to signify the beauty in being who you are! Just like a fingerprint your “lip print” is explicitly unique to you. Lip Print Beauty Bar currently specializes in making custom lipstick and lip gloss, but will soon expand to provide custom foundation services too. We take pride in providing make-up products that are natural-based, cruelty-free, vegan friendly, and produced in the USA. Our products are not only beautiful, but also very skin friendly. Lip Print Beauty Bar provides more than a product, we provide a new cosmetic experience. We believe this is what makes us unique compared to other cosmetic retailers. The “Lip Print” experience offers our customers the opportunity to create a lip color that fits and defines who they are. We also provide the convenience of creating the perfect lip color rather than searching the makeup store or counter for it. Our services include hosting “Lip Print” parties for events such as, bachelorette parties, bridal shower, girl’s day/night out, Sweet Sixteen parties, wedding shows, and corporate events. We also welcome walk-ins and appointments at our location in downtown Raleigh.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

Lip Print Beauty Bar was founded in February 2021. It wasn’t a smooth road due to navigating the initial uncertainties of opening a business during a pandemic and starting out as a mobile business. In spite of these challenges, we continued to press forward in launching our innovative business of lipstick customization which was lacking in the cosmetic industry.

During the height of the pandemic, we implemented precautionary measures such as, encouraging each staff member to be fully vaccinated, following local mask mandates, and of course, completing thorough hand hygiene to maximize the safety of our customers. This allowed us to still host our Lip Print Beauty Bar parties in a fun and safe environment.

We began solely as a mobile business and endured the challenge of finding locations to host our events. With the support of friends, family, networking groups and local small businesses in the community, we were able to secure additional locations to host our Lip Print Parties. We persevered through these challenges and are blessed to now have a location in Downtown Raleigh, NC.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

The best source of new clients for us has been using a combination of different marketing strategies. In order to be successful, businesses cannot rely on one strategy. We have found best results, when we utilize various marketing strategies such as, social media ads, attending networking events, collaborating with local businesses, participating in pop-up shops and print marketing. Word of mouth is also a great tool. Our ultimate goal is to become a household name and have people talk about our business even when we are not in the room!
