We were lucky to catch up with Nick Poum recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nick, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you wish you had started sooner?
I wish I would have started my creative career sooner. I ended up wanting pursue the creative career November 2019, at first it was just for as a hobby then grew more into wanting to pursue more of the creative side to performing outside of my hometown. Career wise during that time, I was working full-time as an Oil & Gas Valve Technician. Starting sooner would have changed a lot for me and understanding what was needed to be done in order to get further, especially with music production and being a DJ. Definitely would have had a different outlook through knowledge and time if I had began to pursue being a DJ and music producer sooner rather than later.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Nick, I also go by my DJ alias, NECCNOH. I started DJing as a hobby at home, the further I got into my hobby the more I wanted to push and perform more in public and even outside of my hometown. Even just performing as a DJ, I wanted to learn more and even got into music production. From finding a certain sound within the Techno genre, I wanted to do more for myself, bring my own sound, and diversity with what I do as a DJ and artist. Performing genres within Techno to Hard Techno with an eclectic and high energy, to bring an intricate selection throughout my sets when performing. I’am definitely most proud of being able to share the stage with some of the most well known artists in my hometown and out of town. I want potential clients/fans/followers to know that I love what I do with a passion and will try my best everytime I get the chance to perform no matter where. Letting others understand my vision with techno through the music and the brand itself.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I had started earlier in my life, especially with music production. Everything needed to learn music is readily available everywhere. Using resources online, and putting more time in it in my early career would’ve have helped further, but it was better to get it started sooner rather than later.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist to me is being able to provide what I love to do for people and they enjoy it through the music.
