We were lucky to catch up with Nick Petty recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nick Petty, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Working with Eric Wilson of Sublime was a big deal for us. Growing up I had listened to Sublime and Nirvana despite the troubles they had I did always related to the chaos of the music. I knew chaos as a child with ADHD and the child of my parents who had a divorce. I started my band in 2012 and didn’t mean Eric until 2022 or 2021. I had played with Jakob Nowell and many bands in Sublimes camp through a friend Reid Clow who took care of me in LA while I tried to meet folks in exchange for groceries bought with food stamps. ( lol) Having a friendship with him. Long story short reid booked bands and taught Tim Azzy how to book many years later. Tim then became our booking agent and booked us with Spray Allen a band Wric Wilson was in.

Nick Petty, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into music at a young age just owning a tape recorder. I slowly learned guitar and used my childhood stress to an advantage for entertaining. It states with making people laugh grabbing their attention until I learned how to properly sing and play guitar. I struggled with substance abuse, and when I got over that, I really wanted to chase a High and entertain people.. The entire band has different back story’s of how they got into playing though. I’m proud of the perseverance the band has and willingness in our DIY sense. Unlike a lot of bands who are popular we don’t have connections or nepotism. We don’t sell drugs to push albums which a lot of mainstream artists do and did. We try to keep the music honest and rehearse a lot and work hard after that in this moment to get it out.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Our goal is just that if you work hard you can get somewhere. Alex Sanchez, Brett Brazil, Eli Smetzer and me Nick Petty all believe in that. And just reminding people life is vast and ever changing and we like to think in depth about things not just go through the motions all the time. Also that people through bad times are not ALONE.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
A example of resilience was when my dad passed I played a show that night. He taught me that life is not forever and if I’m gunna do what I’m gunna do I’m going to have to work harder then a normal job. A few days later an ex girlfriend had passed too. I didn’t turn to drugs and I put my sadness into fuel to work harder in their memory.
