We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nick Duffy a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Nick thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you tell us about an important lesson you learned while working at a prior job?
I’ve worked in the golf business for many years now. The biggest lesson I learned in my first role of an outside operations worker was how important it was to be on time. I was in college at the time and was working to make ends meet for school. The company had a policy of if you’re one minute late no tips. I was 10 and I made no tips. The rest of the staff did very well that day and a lesson was learned.
Nick, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started playing golf at age 10 and played junior golf, college golf and professional golf. I played in two US Juniors and medaled are both sites.
The majority of my clients are junior golfers or college golfers looking to improve their game for competition. I help them in finding the correct tournaments and how to play better on the course along with other skills areas of the games.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My first year of being in business was a place of learning. Everything from avoiding scams to knowing how to invest in your business for the best ROI. I almost went bankrupt then built my business to making my best profit I ever made in two years.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I’ve been on instagram for almost 10 years now and had good steady growth for a while. I didn’t do much research on how to grow it for many years but recently switched my style and posting method up and gained a larger audience.
