We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nichole Walz. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nichole below.
Nichole, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about the best boss, mentor, or leader you’ve ever worked with.
It’s going to sound funny, but the best boss and motor I’ve ever had was one who taught me so much about what I didn’t want to do when we opened our own chiropractic practice.
Unfortunately, to my former boss/mentor (who, by the way is not located in the USA), patients were only a number and being a chiropractor was all about earning money/numbers to him. Employees were of little value to him as well.
So, when my husband and I opened our own practice here in Miami, we knew exactly what to do and not to do! We practice the way we’ve always wanted to, with our heart. We care and we spend time with each patient. We listen. Patients are like family in our office, as well as our employees. We value the people that work with us and our patients, who are so kind to give their hard earned dollars to us to help them live healthier lives.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My husband and I are both chiropractic physicians who own our own boutique practice, On-The-Go Wellness Chiropractic, in Brickell, Miami.
We met in graduate school, Palmer College of Chiropractic, where we both received our Doctorates in 2011.
I actually became a chiropractor because I used to suffer from terrible, debilitating migraines. After countless MRI’s, blood work and tests, the only thing that was able to alleviate my symptoms was chiropractic care, thus motivating me to become a chiropractor and help others as well.
In our office, we don’t just offer chiropractic care, we offer myofascial release (muscle work), Chinese cupping scraping taping, stretching, home exercises, massage and SO much more! Our treatment plans are always custom to the patient, because every single person is different. Not only do we treat neck pain, back pain and headaches, but we also help patients and athletes maintain a pain free lifestyle and have optimal performance with their specific fitness routines. We pride ourselves on the fact that we’re not the 3-minute treatment “crack and go” chiropractors. We spend 30 minutes with each patient during treatment to ensure that we’ve helped in every way possible.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think authenticity helped us build the reputation that we have in our community. It may sound a bit corny, but we really do care about our patients and want to genuinely make their lives better/healthier. We gladly go above and beyond for our patients.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I’m sure many others can relate to this, but the pandemic really hit us hard. There was point where we closed the office for 3 weeks and, when we reopened, we barely had 5 patients on the schedule for the entire week. Instead of throwing in the towel, we used this hardship to pivot and find new ways to connect with people in our community that weren’t face to face at that time. It was definitely a rocky road and we had many sleepless nights, but I’m proud to say that with some perseverance, we’re now the busiest our practice has ever been and we’re about to expand!
