We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nicholas Velasquez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nicholas, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
All of them have been meaningful to me to be honest but to pick just one; I’d have to say is SEQUEL: CRUEL SUMMER – PART 2.
It’s meaningful to me because the team is highly different than any other team I’ve worked with so far.
Very polite with everyone no matter how stressful a day might be, people are always ON TIME for their scenes and know their lines professionally.
I’d say the director; SCOTT TEPPERMAN really knows how to get a team together and successfully create a horror/thriller movie.
Nicholas, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Yes, my name is Nicholas Gabriel Velasquez. I am an award winning SAG-ELIGIBLE actor and singer-songwriter. I’ve produced, performed and released music to platforms such as Spotify.
I began my career in acting in 2017, having the realization that I wanted to try something else other than music for once in my life.
I’ve done my first acting role for a production called UNTHINKABLE PRODUCTIONS for their film called FAT MAN STANDING where I played the eccentric ‘FAT MAN.’
After that I fell in love with acting. So I took a WHOLE year off to train and get my acting chops to at least a bare standard.
2019, is when I was given the chance to utilize what I’ve learned from my coaches at MASTER CLASS. I successfully grown within the industry working with multiple amazing directors such as CARLOS SEGURO, CHRISTIAN ORTIZ, JOHNEY BIRELL.
Getting multiple nominations and my first award with a wonderful company that was previously named, THE ACTORS FUND in 2021.
It’s hard work everyone but if you focus on the training and staying positive and putting yourself in like-minded environments with positive people then things will happen.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I would love to share with y’all how I built my audience and is currently still building as we speak!
What I mainly do is post up something that has to pertain to the job I’ve done. Share with everyone what I’ve been up to and what I’m currently doing.
My favorite thing to upload for y’all is the trailers, sneak peeks and the BTS (BEHIND THE SCENES) of the projects I’ve worked on and/or currently working on.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
There is one goal that’s mainly pushing me to keep going and honestly it’s just seeing the multiple emotions my audience, fans, friends and family members have when I perform a scene.
I love it! It’s what actually keeps me going!
