We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nicholas Bailey a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nicholas, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
My biggest risk is taking my side hustle and entering it into an actual LLC. I went from making 3k a year doing my little hobby to triple the numbers so far in the past year. It’s a lot to returning customers and a bigger network.

Nicholas, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I picked up my mom‘s old kodak digital camera when I was a kid and evolved up to canon and Sony cameras since then. Alot of people in college pushed me back from growing so I went out and
started my own brand. i deliver quick and clean work to my customers that urgently need content. Im proud of the word of mouth that goes around and the growth on my own as well from simple headshots and couples shoots to corporate events. With my brand im universal on what people want me to create and capture.

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
My side hustle isnt exactly full time however its made me more money this year than ever in my career doing it. I started doing small side gigs like a few hours of time at a wedding or a sweet 16, to a once in a while engagement shoot. My obstacle was my own self-esteem, i never really put myself out there as best as i could have, always worried about the “what ifs?” Aka losing money, having customers not give feedback or saying something negative about my work. I marketed myself more, gave out lots of business cards like a poker dealer, stayed up late to respond to leads posted online just to be first come first serve. Doing that got me nice gigs at country clubs and five star hotels.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I took money from my savings account which is always scary, like what if I needed to fix up my car or had something medically wrong with me? I can say I spent between a grand or two in total with registration through the state as well as my own marketing and paid leads on websites. People love to talk about the “grind” little do they know it kind of sucks, but the return is great.
