Alright, Nichica F. thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
In order to truly be successful, you have to be able to define what success looks like for you. Social Media will tell you what it should like. People have their opinions about what it should look like, but if you don’t know you will be chasing the wind. And that means that you will try to accomplish something that is either unattainable or it will not truly make you happy.
Once you are able to define success, then you hire someone like me who comes in and helps you create the goals and focus on the activities that lead you to that success. On the signature of my email is this saying of mine, “Dreamers dream. Workers Work. Dreamers who work get results.” You have to be both and do both. A person without a dream has no vision. A person who is not willing to put the work in will never get the results that they are looking for. And that is the key. Getting the results that you are looking for. Bio:
Nichica F. Melton, M.Ed. is the wife of Rodney Melton, and together they have six amazing children. She and her husband also actively work together in ministry in High Point, NC where he serves as the Senior Pastor. She is an accomplished individual, having graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She further pursued her education and obtained a Master’s degree in Education Administration from Grand Canyon University.
In addition to her academic achievements, Nichica is also a four time published author. She wrote a book titled “Breaking Free: My Purpose Is Waiting on Me!” which takes the reader on a personal journey of self-discovery and provides insights and inspiration to readers who are seeking to break free from limitations and pursue their purpose. She is also a co-author in the anthology, “Love, Lead, and Let Go!”, which gives the real life experiences of 10 amazing women currently serving in ministry. I think that I am the only Simplified Productivity Coach. There are MANY productivity coaches, but they don’t do the way I do it because they don’t look at productivity the way I look at it. Productivity doesn’t have to complicated and it shouldn’t take you 3 hours just to get started on your day. The tasks that are expected from some of these high productivity coaches are ridiculous which is why many fall off. I learned the hard and expensive way that everything we do must make sense to us. If it doesn’t make sense, then we will eventually stop doing it.
There are three main areas that I help my clients: organization, scheduling, and prioritization. Including in all of that is the proper goal setting. Most recently I received a review on my book from a person who does not have a business. And in the review they said that they were only on Chapter 2 and already there were things in their everyday life and on their job that they had made changes to and the changes were working. That’s a reminder that anyone can be productive and anyone can be successful, when you are clear on what success looks like for you.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the tools that I had to unlearn was using To Do Lists. When I was spending money on high productivity classes and trainings, the thing that was consistent was that you had to have your To Do List. You needed to have one when you started your day and update it at the end of the day. You needed one for work and one for home. And on top of the list you needed a calendar, but the things on the list didn’t go on the calendar. The calendar was for your appointments. That process liked to have driven me crazy. I was so stressed out that I hated calendars. I felt so overwhelmed all of the time and I could not figure it out until many years later. I teach my clients that To Do Lists are TRASH! IF it is worth your time then it goes on your calendar. Period! And you give everything a block of time and a cushion of time. You will learn more about what that is when we work together. Success for me doesn’t require that I am stressed out all of the time. There will be stress in your life, but it doesn’t have to be 24/7/365.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I am a product of my product. Seriously. I am a mother of 6, a wife and the wife of a Sr. Pastor, a licensed REALTOR that owns her own firm, a t-shirt designer, a published author of multiple books, an international speaker, and a Simplified Productivity Coach. I often times get calls from people asking me how do I do all that I do because I am not stressed or overwhelmed and it is confusing to them. So when I tell them what I do it makes sense to them and they want to work with me. It is really that simple. There are too many frauds out there that are taking people’s money and they believe in what they are selling and they don’t live it. I live it because I believe in it. And so do my clients.
