Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nichelle Hosley. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Nichelle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Remember the Barbie Blow-Up Furniture from back in the day? The bedroom furniture that had the green and blue daisies on it? The orange, green, and brown striped living room furniture? I was probably 8 or 9 and I had all the furniture…😂. And could arrange it in a million ways along with dressing Barbie and Ken multiple times a day…I think that’s when I knew.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hailing from the East Coast (Norfolk, VA), I am an award-winning Interior Designer, Interior Design Meets Fashion Charity Fashion Show Founder and Show Producer, and lover of all-things Beauty and Fashion.
With over 25 years of experience, I am part of the elite when it comes to beauty, interior design and fashion show production. I am a former retail manager of boutique women’s clothing and 15-year nail salon owner. In 2004, My family and I moved to San Antonio, TX by way of the United States Airforce (husband). With that move, I had a desire for something new. So, after truly realizing my creativity and passion for beautiful living spaces, I attended St. Mary’s University where I received my Residential and Commercial Interior Design credentials and began my career as an Interior Designer. I have been employed at Interior Trade Cartel for almost 13 years and I run my very own interior design business, n2Spaces Interior Design as well.
In 2015, Interior Design Meets Fashion was awakened simply by a desire to merge two amazing worlds together. Interior Design and Fashion Design resembles in such a way that “one informs the other and vice versa,” according to Blue Carreon, former fashion journalist. Interior Design Meets Fashion has evolved into a not for profit supporter of local charity organizations. We have produced to date, 10 fashion shows…donating more than $50,000 to local, underserved organizations.
I am married to Art Hosley Jr (Retired Airforce, Chief, Training Multi-Media Flight, and Photographer) of 31 years. Together, we have four amazing children, a son-in-law, and two sweet grand-babies: Caitlin who is a highly sought after makeup artist (married to Dennis Love and mommy to Carter Ray and Cobi Lei), Austin Hosley who is a graduate of the Art Institute with a degree in Fashion Design (and engaged to Jeremy Bates), Christian who is CEO of Hosleyville LLC. and Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for Texas Tech University, and Justin, a licensed real estate agent.
Through my vast experience and extensive knowledge on working with world renowned luxury furniture brands and access to some of the most beautiful fabrics, and my connection with local boutiques and designers, i continue to craft unique fashion shows as well as beautiful spaces that leave impactful impressions.
I currently serve as Membership Director for the American Society of Interior Designers – Texas Chapter, as well as the The Texas Fashion Industry Initiative as Membership Director and Associate Producer for Texas Fashion Week.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I consider myself to be a “Multi-Hyphenated” creative. One aspect that non-creatives might struggle to understand about my multi-hyphenated journey as a creative is the constant need for adaptation and versatility. In a multi-hyphenated career, I often juggle multiple roles, projects, and mediums simultaneously. This requires me to be adept at quickly switching between different creative mindsets, techniques, and approaches.
Unlike more traditional career paths, where specialization is often the norm, multi-hyphenated creatives thrive on diversity and novelty. So I find myself working on vastly different projects within a short span of time, requiring me to continually learn, experiment, and innovate.
I also believe, non-creatives may underestimate the emotional and psychological challenges that come with pursuing multiple creative endeavors. We’re labeled as “doing the most.” Creativity often involves a deeply personal investment, and the pressure to consistently produce innovative work across various domains can be mentally taxing. Balancing artistic integrity successfully, managing creative burnout, and dealing with self-doubt are all common experiences for multi-hyphenated creatives.
Ultimately, what non-creatives may struggle to grasp is the unique blend of passion, resilience, and adaptability required to thrive in a multi-hyphenated creative journey. It’s not just about being talented in one area but about navigating a complex landscape of creativity, business, and personal growth with grace and determination. Simply put, I have options!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
There are so many, but here’s a few of my favorites…
Self-expression: Creativity allows me to express myself in unique and meaningful ways, fostering a sense of identity and authenticity.
Impact on Others: Both Interior Design and Fashion has the power to evoke emotions, provoke thought, and inspire change Knowing that my work resonates with people and can have a positive impact on their lives can be incredibly rewarding.
Personal Growth: The creative process often involves pushing boundaries, taking risks, and learning new skills. This journey of growth and self-discovery is immensely fulfilling.
Connection and Community: Being part of a creative community has provided me support, inspiration, and opportunities for collaboration. Building relationships with fellow creatives and connecting with audiences has created a sense of belonging and fulfillment.
Freedom and Autonomy: I highly value the freedom to pursue my passions and create on my own terms. The ability to shape my own creative vision and follow my instincts can be deeply satisfying.
