We were lucky to catch up with Niché Pryor recently and have shared our conversation below.
Niché, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Honestly, a little still voice spoke to me while I was asleep. “FAITHINMYFASHION” is what I heard. It may sound cliché and possibly unbelievable, but I usually receive my most creative ideas and designs in a dream or when I’m asleep. Back then, I did not know exactly what it meant or how to define it. As years progressed, the name began to reveal itself and fold similar into a beautifully done origami piece. My brand is multifaceted and has many layers to it. FAITHINMYFASHION is a lifestyle and it encompasses the importance of having confidence and faith in what your God given gift is.
By definition, “fashion applies to any way of dressing, behaving, writing, or performing that is favored at any one time or place”. Having faith in your gift and trusting yourself in what you do is important to navigate in career and life.
In my case, God gave me a special eye for style and dress and it is the way I express and show up for myself on a day to day basis. I use my gift to inspire others to be and feel confident in their own God given gift and style.
Not everyone will enjoy my expressions of fashion, but what matters most is if I like it and show up confidently.
FAITHINMYFASHION speaks to individuality. It will look different for everyone, but my brand is for everyone. Faith, family, beauty, health, home, and financial literacy are all what makes the beautifully made origami piece intertwined with Fashion and Style.
Faith is a universal language and I believe with faith nothing is impossible.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have had a passion for style and fashion since my senior year of high school. It was love at first stitch when I took my first sewing class at Homewood Flossmoor High School in Illinois. My career as a fashion designer began in 2008 while attending Columbia College Chicago. I graduated with an interdisciplinary degree in Fashion Design and Fashion Management. Having knowledge in both those fields of fashion was the best decision I could have ever made for my career. Not only did I gain knowledge in designing, sewing, and creating a full collection, but I also learned what it takes to manage a retail store, what products to choose for that retail store, and how merchandise the product to sell.
In 2017, I relocated to the land of opportunity, Los Angeles, California. I worked as an intern and style expert at “Ivan Bitton Style House” in the center of Hollywood, CA. This kick started my television and film career as a Wardrobe Costumer. To name a few, I’ve had the pleasure of working with talents such as Kandi Burruss, MC Lyte, Tracie Thoms, Omar Gooding, and jazz extraordinaire Kamasi Washington. Costuming has been a challenging, yet extremely rewarding career. Hard work and maintaining my faith has brought me so far. I know my continued faith will unlock and lead me into even greater opportunities and spaces that I could not have imagined.
Ephesians 3:20 is my favorite scripture to live by. “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”
To encourage myself and others, I created a Collection of sweatshirts, t-shirts, and hats that has the question, “got faith?” on them. Whenever my faith falls short, because I’m human and I have my days, I wear my sweatshirt, t-shirt, or hat to remind me to hold on to my faith and keep going. In turn, that question encourages others as they are walking past and reading.
You can find my “got faith?” Collection on my website.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal and mission driving my creative journey is being able to provide for my family and friends who have been riding with me from the beginning. I’m a huge family person and I think family and having a community is very important to the success of your career and life journey. My family is my why. I want to be able to have experiences that they’ve never had before on my dime.

Have you ever had to pivot?
The time I had to pivot in career was a couple years after moving t0 California. Initially, I went there motivated to build a fashion stylist career. Little did I realize, everyone else was doing the same thing. It was over saturated and still is. Unexpectedly, Wardrobe Costuming for TV and Film fell into my lap without me looking or planning for it. I was recommended to a Costume Designer in the industry and the rest is history. God has truly directed my path and held me down, even when I did not know what my next move would be. I trusted the process.
