Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nic Duca. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Nic , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
I got out of the military the same year Ducas opened and knew I had to be a part of making the amazing family pizza I’ve been having since I was a kid in my grandma’s kitchen. My family comes from Italy and the recipes do also. The guys in our family immigrated to America and landed in Colorado for coal mining. The woman worked their magic in the kitchen. Creating amazing pizzas and dishes that are the soul of our family. After long days our family always gathers around the table for the amazing food that grandma made and all of the laughs and stories that come along with it. Bringing people together to laugh and enjoy some amazing Italian food is what we’re all about. It’s something that I’m very passionate about and love seeing people enjoy the same pizza that comes all the way from my family’s kitchen in Italy. I’ve worked from the bottom up over the past 15 years and truly appreciate the process and history of where our food originated. My vision is to intertwine the old classics with a modern twist that myself and my crew have created from the kitchen over the years.
Nic , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We started the first Duca’s pizza in 2008. My uncle Tony and Joe started the concept. I got out of the military the same year Ducas opened and knew I had to be a part of making the amazing family pizza I’ve been having since I was a kid in my grandma’s kitchen. I think what sets us apart from other pizza places is that all of our ingredients are fresh and made daily. All of our recipes come from my my family’s kitchen and are authentic Neapolitan pizzas. The unique modern additions that we’ve added is also something that separates us and makes us stand out.
Our crew is disciplined and take pride in making the amazing food that we serve.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My time in the military instilled hard work, discipline and drive for whatever task is in front of me. I’ve incorporated that mindset into Ducas pizza all while having an amazing time with customers and employees. We love having fun, making amazing food and bringing the community together as family.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think what helped us build our reputation in the market is the genuine love and connection with our customers. Whenever people come in we treat them like family. I also think our amazing pizzas keep people coming back for life!
