Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nia Spratt. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Nia , appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
The story behind my mission was too incorporate healthy eating in a reasonable way. When I started my business people were already hip to fruit cups , fruit bowls ect. But, I tried to figure out a way to make my business unique. It’s funny how a person will go in the grocery store and buy fruit and it sits in there refrigerator for days before they decide to cut it. In most cases by then the fruit is bad. What I decided to do is make fruit cups, trays, platters the way you want with any fruit you desire. Such a simple idea has been Quite profitable.

Nia , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Initially, how I started my business was from my partner. I had some fruit in the house I cut it up made him a fruit tray. He ate and said it was delicious. He said you really should start selling these. A light bulb went off in my head and the birth of Sunflower fruits was in the making. I’ve always been in the food and beverage field, from being a waitress, host, caterer, cook doing different jobs. So, starting my own fruit business just felt natural. I believe what sets me apart from any big stores and establishments that also sells fruit
I’m self taught so any design or tray that I do is uniquely done for my customers. I always listen and try to provide them with sweetest of the sweetest fruit. I also, take constructive criticism to heart . No one is perfect . I’ve had ups and downs because im human. If one of customers isn’t pleased with their order I have no problem at all doing it over or listening to see if it anything I could of done differently. It’s apart of a growing business.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I’ve always been on Instagram just from have a personal page. But, when I started business I also made a fruit page . Sunflower_fruitsllc . I simply ask my followers and friends to post to their page when they buy fruit from me to help boost my followers. It’s been a journey because my business is still fairly new. Just being constant with my post and getting my work recognized.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I had my baby in 2020 in the middle of the pandemic It was a rough time for the world. It was hard not being a able to be around family and friends because of Covid. My life changed forever with being a first time mother I didn’t really understand to roles I was stepping into. But, once I laid eyes on my daughter I knew whatever I did I had to be strong, love and protect her with all my heart. It has been quite the journey. I love being a Mother !
