We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nia Scott a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Nia, thanks for joining us today. What were some of the most unexpected problems you’ve faced in your career and how did you resolve those issues?
Since a child, I always knew that eventually, I would be my own boss. I never knew how long it would take or what I would be but I just knew that I would be making my own legacy. Fast forward to 2020 things were going in the right direction for me my career was flourishing and I was happier than ever. Then suddenly we get hit with a Pandemic and things start to slow down and people are trying to figure out how they were going to make ends meet. Thank God I just started a regular job and used that time to really buckle down and hold on to what was important. Now two years later as we start to overcome this pandemic I realize I’m missing something and that’s my creative spark I don’t know if 2020 would have been that year to really jump off my creative career but I do know that in the past two years my creative eye has been awakened and my skills have been sharper. As bad as I don’t want to say it but this pandemic was something that I personally NEEDED I needed to get in touch with myself and what I wanted in this next chapter of my life. You’re probably thinking so “Nia how did you overcome it?” I haven’t I don’t have all the answers but I do know it’s a marathon, not a sprint and it’s not going to come overnight.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Nia Scott and I’m a creative & Entrepreneur. I started in the industry as a styling assistant I worked on several projects that you may know about like Motorsport with Nicki Minaj , Cardi b, and the Migos I have also worked on VH1 Love and Hip Hop Miami along with covering Miami Swim week for E-news. Being Behind the Scenes just gives me a high that I love. Before the pandemic, I decided to launch my own podcast to talk to Black creators and Entrepreneurs who are leading the way for my generation so I started the NIA SCOTT PODCAST back in 2019 and now I’m currently on 11 streaming platforms And two written Press articles about my accomplishments. This was no walk in the park it took a lot of hard work and research but now that things have fallen into place my next goal is to take everything to new levels and to continue to set examples for others but more so for myself.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
This is a great question and the only goal/mission that keeps driving my creative journey is ME. I want to show people and the world what I can do. I’m smart and a quick learner and if you give me the right keys I can make anything happen for me.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I’m into the arts and I just love how art has changed in the past few years. I eventually want to have my own NFT and sell it but first, I need to gather more information about it but in the meantime, I’m down for this new innovative way of making money and selling art.
