We were lucky to catch up with Nia Dinero recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
Wow! I’ve never been asked this question before!…
What I’ve learned throughout my journey is that most things aren’t “Black and White,” and that two or more things can be true at the same time. I’ve had an office job and hated it; but valued the role it played in that necessary season of my life. As a creative, I’m driven by the magic on the other side of my faith and action. I am most at peace when I live my life to the fullest and my purpose can flow synonymously with my gifts in the most original ways creatively. The magic can’t always be narrowed down or put in a box; but it’s felt on the inside when who I am aligns with what I do for myself and others.
I collaborate and build relationships, I invest in myself both personally and professionally while embracing the various nuances of being a creative woman. I can problem-solve, be analytical, take risk, be open-minded, organize, and communicate towards my next EP; then use those same traits to build and nurture a monogamous relationship and desire to have my own family one day.

Nia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

All of my preceding opportunities paved the way to become more than a rapper; but a true trailblazer in the making. I Bring a unique, cunning, and clever perspective on various levels and plan to climb to unprecedented heights with the fuel to land on top.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
Throughout my journey I’ve noticed that many non-creatives associate creativity or being a “creative” with instability. They believe most of us are detached from reality; or simply “just dreaming;” but being a creative goes far beyond being musician, a painter or loving the arts. While “creativity” and “being artistic” are often used interchangeably, their completely different. The creative mind can create new ideas plus find patterns between Ideas and solving problems. In other words, we get everday task done and solve problems in original ways, It’s that simple! Many non – creatives see this originality as “too different” or too off the grid of “making sense,” so they question its value or stability; not understanding that “a creative person” is synonymous with who they are and how they think.
Over the years I’ve learned to be driven off the “unfolding” of what matters most from the inside out. I am a creative thinker whether I’m strategizing on a new podcast or strategizing on a new budget to ensure I’m on top of my personal responsibilities and life’s goals.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn the belief that success is “static.” Success is ever-changing, you don’t reach success the moment you get to the end of the finish line. You have to take control of your life and what matters most. If your bar or level of success is based off one thing; you’ll miss out on all of your life’s small success stories. There’s success in simply learning to really live your life! I used to place my idea of success solely on making it in the music industry a certain way, not leaving room for my success to look different or allowing myself to evolve. That mindset had an negative impact on my mental and emotional health, so I decided to work on myself from the inside out. With hard work and therapy I rebuilt a better understanding of myself, success, and purpose. Now I understand that success isn’t just the big picture; but it’s the millions of pixels that build your character, resilience, and define who you are and who your meant to be.
