Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ngohile Yakubu. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ngohile, appreciate you joining us today. Can you share a customer success story with us?
My customers are very unique and have specialized taste in style. When we launched, I had a suit set that sold instantly on our website. The following day, a client reached out to me and expressed her frustration for missing out on the outfit. She then went on to say that should in case the buyer decide they won’t keep it, she will be waiting lol. I found it interesting and got to work on finding her a replacement since we curate one of each item in our shop. This same customer was so amazed that she became a repeat customer till date. I was so happy she would trust me with her style and wardrobe

Ngohile, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Absolutely! My name is Ngohile Yakubu, a Nigerian American immigrant. I migrated to the states with my parents in 2013(over 10years ago). I own a curated resale sustainable online clothing store called Leyla’s Kloset. This December marks 3yrs in business.
My love for thrifting and curating started at a young age and I have a unique approach to clothing as a form of expression. But I find that some styles and the quality of clothing these days lack so much. I curated for myself working in corporate and people would compliment me all the time. When I saw that what I had was a gift, I ventured into the entrepreneurial path to get my work seen by many.
I love it! And the satisfaction I derive from seeing my clients happy is what keeps me going. We carry clothing- vintage and modern, accessories and much more. I also offer consulting and personal styling services as well.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Social media has been a driving force for me. My Instagram is very aesthetic and I offer style tips and showcase our offerings on there.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Authenticity is key. Not everyone is your client and that’s okay. Also, just because you love it doesn’t mean everyone will. Another thing is networking within the industry. So I do vendor popup shows and support fellow entrepreneurs like me.
