We recently connected with Nghi Lu and have shared our conversation below.
Nghi, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump back to the first dollar you earned as a creative? What can you share with us about how it happened?
Earning money from hobby. Balance out between money and passion. Starting a brand isn’t hard but keeping it is a real work.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Working in art has always been my passion. I went to art college and pursue my bachelor degree like many other young artists. I wanted to tell my stories, show my weirdness, stand out but also fit in.
I got into the industry and get into the work flow but then I was loosing all of that young passion. I went back to my hometown and created a small brand with my good friend. That is when I can enjoy creating and earning money. Working with production house, customers, vendors, etc. help me learn a lots.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
That creating content and earning money will always need to go hand in hand. That you have to compromise between your own art and other people opinions.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
You need a good plan too. Know what is your target audience, your brand identity and build the social media around it. Each social media will have a different target audience and style. After that, create, create and create. Keep creating and posting. Don’t afraid of posting bad work. Nothing will be good without the first bad few ones.
