We recently connected with Netiya Owens and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Netiya, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about how you went about setting up your own practice and if you have any advice for professionals who might be considering starting their own?
Over a decade ago, I began incorporating yoga into my fitness regimen to alleviate everyday aliments caused by working long hours as a Registered Nurse and dealing with plantar fasciitis. Instead of just treating the symptoms, yoga provided me with tools to address the root cause of my discomfort. After my son passed away in 2018, my yoga practice became even more important to me. It helped me navigate my grief and find strength so I could face the challenges life throws our way. That’s why I’m so excited to share the benefits of yoga and introduce new self-care options at RMYL..

Netiya, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Murfreesbro‘s first black woman owned boutique yoga studio Royal Massage And Yoga Lounge. At RMYL we provide a combination of yoga and massage services. Combining yoga and massage services offers many benefits. You can expect first class services and experiences at our location. Whether it’s a relaxing massage or mindful meditation and yoga class you will feel I invigorated and rejuvenated when you leave.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I had a bright idea to open a yoga studio since it help get through some of the most challenging times of my life. I felt like this was something that I wanted to offer and expand on in the Murfreesboro area. After being open for a couple of months I was forced to temporarily close my business due to a global pandemic. COVID hit and the world changed. I had to pivot and figure something out quickly
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Learning that we don’t have control over everything and my business doesn’t have to look like what I that it should look like in order to be successful. My business model doesn’t have to look like similar business.
