We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nephateria Covington a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nephateria, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you tell us a bit about who your hero is and the influence they’ve had on you?
My mother is my hero. I’ve watched her work two jobs to make sure me and my brother had everything we needed as a child. She was a victim of domestic abuse and she survived. The lessons that I’ve learned from seeing her struggle is “never giving up”. She is the reason why I keep pushing and chasing after my dreams. She always taught me to put my faith in GOD and keep him first. I’ve did that throughout my life and I must say it has gotten me along way in life and I’m blessed.
Nephateria, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m 30 years old and I’m from Monroe, NC. I’ve been a Tooth Gem Technician for 2 years and a Teeth Whitening Technician for 1 year. January 2020 is when I took the Tooth Gem training course and became certified just weeks after my engagement ended. The type of services that I provide is placing Swarovski crystals or 18KT Gold Tooth gems on people teeth. The most thing that I’m proud of is just getting my business started. I’ve always wanted to be an entrepreneur so being able to do that was one of my biggest accomplishments. One thing that I would want potential clients and fans to know is that they won’t be disappointed with my services. I’m dedicated to making them happy and providing the best services that I can. I treat my clients like family!
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think what helped build my reputation is just promoting my businesses on all of my social media platforms and also having models.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson I had to unlearn is everybody won’t support you. The backstory is I support everyone with they business. I repost other people businesses on my social media or I show up to the event but I can honestly say only a few people have reposted my business on social media! I used to expect people to share my business but then I realized they not obligated to do that. Always remember “you are your own biggest supporter and that’s all that matters”.
