Nelson, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you wish you had started sooner?
I wish I’ve never walked away from music. When I was a Border Patrol Agent, I didn’t do music for a good 7-8 years. That was precious time to work on my craft. But I really thought that my music career was done and I didn’t wanted to start from zero.
I had an on duty accident that made me realize that, I wasn’t doing what I love and dove right back into music and created Semper Acerbus.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am the lead vocalist of upcoming metalcore band Semper Acerbus. We have grown steadily for the past couple of years, playing with national acts and big festival’s. We are in the process of releasing a new EP and we are really excited about it.
All our music is in all the major streaming services, including YouTube. We have done everything independently, with no record label behind us. We have plans to go to the UK and Latin America in 2024.
We also have collaborated with big names in the industry and performed in very cool places.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I think in my opinion, when people approach you and say that your music helped them go through a very tough time in their life. Music should be the escapade everyone needs and heal the soul.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Some of the tools to help artists thrive it’s actually free. A share and a like in social media goes a long way. If you share your friends/family artistic career, thats immediate promo and might reach potential customers.
