We were lucky to catch up with Nelli Kamaeva recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nelli, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
1. Genetic Lab and Flow Health
Designing for healthcare has been one of the most impactful parts of my career. At Flow Health and in the genetic lab Kromos, I worked on improving web applications, admin panels, and patient experiences. These tools not only streamlined the workflows of lab employees but also enhanced how patients interacted with their health data. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see how thoughtful design can directly contribute to better medical outcomes and a more human-centered healthcare system.
2. Posters for Local Creative Markets
Creating posters for local creative markets has been a meaningful way to support artisans and makers. These markets bring together people who create by hand — jewelry, artwork, clothing, books, and the posters I design become the visual voice of their passion. Every project is an opportunity to highlight their individuality and attract the community to celebrate and support these creators.
3. Georgian Language Guide [pdf/book]
The Georgian language guide was born from the need to bridge cultural gaps. Many expats find the language intimidating, but this guide makes it accessible and fun, encouraging them to connect with locals. It’s rewarding to see how it creates a sense of belonging for expats and shows the Georgian community that their language and culture are valued.
4. Content Quo
At Content Quo, I collaborated with the CEO to design innovative AI features that improve the quality of translations and streamline evaluation processes. The platform empowers teams that have AI-driven apps (or AI as a feature) to measure and enhance AI-driven translations (or promt-responces) while maintaining human oversight where necessary. It’s exciting to contribute to a tool that’s transforming how companies ensure quality across multilingual content, ultimately enabling better global communication.
5. Lazy Language Club
The Lazy Language Club is a unique community I founded to explore a new way of learning languages. We focus on 12 languages simultaneously, using relaxed, interactive methods to build skills and confidence without stress. It’s an innovation in language learning, creating a space for brain fitness, personal growth, and cross-cultural connection. The joy of seeing people engage with languages they once found daunting makes this project truly special.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
What keeps me resilient is my deep love for my career. Every day, I find joy in my work, especially when collaborating with great clients, managers, and teams. My mission is to create meaningful solutions that benefit not just the companies I work for but also the end users. I want to end each day knowing I’ve contributed something valuable to those who need it. This is why I’m especially passionate about projects in fields like healthcare, genetics, and fintech. These industries let me combine innovation with real-world impact, making my work more fulfilling and purposeful.

Have you ever had to pivot?
Share a story of your pivot in life.
After earning my degree in mathematics, I began working as a programmer, developing software for physicists analyzing radiation on spacecraft. It sounded impressive and paid well, but every day felt like a struggle. I dreaded my work, and eventually, I quit. I spent time tutoring and searching for something that truly mattered to me.
That’s when I found The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. The book helped me connect to my creativity and gave me the courage to explore different passions. I tried designing bags, running sketching clubs, making greeting cards, crafting, and even building app prototypes.
I enrolled in design college but continued experimenting in every creative field. I ran a bag business, created wool felt crafts, and developed a tutoring app prototype with friends. Eventually, I found my focus in design — first in graphic design, then in UX/Product design. The first time I worked on web and mobile apps, I knew I had found my calling. I could lose myself in creating user experiences and interfaces, even before I had any clients.
Through endless learning and growth, design became not just a career, but a passion. What started as a painful pivot turned into a fulfilling journey, and every failure along the way brought me closer to what I was meant to do.
