We recently connected with Nellah Mx and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Nellah , thanks for joining us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
I am Nellah, a stripper turned psychologist, coach, and a bestselling author and I live in New York. I didn’t cross the Atlantic Ocean to make a dollar like most immigrants do. I came to New York to survive and escape mafia, s*x trade, and a lifestyle of drugs, alcohol, and toxic relationships. Back in Europe, I was a stripper. I tasted gentlemen’s clubs in Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Greece, and Japan, desperately trying to satisfy my biggest addiction-money. Only after I found myself lying on a stinky carpet in one of the most exclusive clubs in Switzerland, unable to move, my nose white with cocaine, seeing my soul leaving my body, I knew I had to leave to preserve myself.
Although coming to the U.S. posed challenges, it gave me an opportunity to transform myself into a different person, a person who I really was. I went on a deep spiritual, mental, and cognitive journey to face myself and my acquired behaviors, and change my habits and thinking patterns. Meanwhile, I worked on conquering another obstacle-limited knowledge of English. I signed up for college and completed a Master’s degree in Psychology.
My biggest passion is writing. I weave in my psychology background and personal experience by introducing topics of cognitive and behavioral transformation, spirituality, trauma processing and personality analysis. With over a decade of clinical experience, I have worked with those on the edge of society—think mentally ill and those with a criminal history. My bestselling book, A Stripper: From Japan Through Switzerland Into The Deepest Secrets of Her Soul made ripples by shedding light on this untouched industry of stripping and s*x trade. I lean on my experience as a stripper to advocate for women’s rights and mental health because transformation is possible, and a system that exploits people and values money more than a human life should not exist. Together, we can build a better world based on love, empathy, and understanding.

Nellah , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I began my spiritual journey at the age of 12, as a client in psychotherapy. Relaxations, meditations, cognitive reconstructing, breath work, and holotropic breathing became my sanctuary that I naturally reached out to when processing my traumas and changing my lifestyle in order to get out of the entertainment industry. After completing my studies and working in the mental health field, I continued immersing deeper into my own spirituality, I realized the need to incorporate spiritual work into psychology. The opening of the last chakra, which felt as I had fire burning on my head connected directly to the universe gave me a message that the time to guide others arrived. I began coaching. Over the years, I’ve done tons of spiritual work, by myself and with my clients. I use different cognitive behavioral techniques, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, meditations, flooding, relaxation exercises, kundalini breathing…I mix it all together to create the right cocktail for you. After years, I discovered that my biggest asset is me, not the methods I use. Currently, many women and men come to me and reveal their stories to me. Mostly, they are in difficult situations, just like I was. We work together to find the way out through self-awareness, love, understanding, and universal connection.
My biggest passion is writing; writing comes naturally to me. I write anytime, anywhere, anyhow, I write anything-stories, poems, scripts. I started writing my first book A Stripper: From Japan Through Switzerland Into the Deepest Secrets of Her Soul spontaneously, not knowing that it was a catalyst for my traumas and cognitions. Since it took years to complete the book, I worked through my own emotions and darkness and I was able to see the industry from a different perspective. I realized how women are conditioned into the roles of s*x toys to serve men. As a stripper, I visited many gentlemen’s clubs, brothels, and private parties. Seeing hundreds of beautiful young women lined up in brothels, waiting for a man to put money down, witnessing them being cut, beaten, or killed just to satisfy someone’s sick s*xual desires pushed me to the edge. I published my book to unveil the reality of the entertainment industry. S*x industry that degrades and manipulates women into the roles of pretty dolls is the biggest insult to all women in the whole world. I appeared in numerous podcasts advocating for women and mental/spiritual health.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
I believe that a mental health professional or a coach of any kind needs to spend time with self-exploration to create self-awareness and deep insight to be able to help others. Introspection is the key to true acceptance and non-judgmental attitude.
Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
Yes, I would chose the same profession. With time, I realized that I love people; I’m a people’s person. I love the regular ones and the edgy. People are endless inspiration…if you don’t believe me, go to spend a week in a psychiatric inpatient unit ;)
