We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nektaria Kleopoulos a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Nektaria thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you take vacations? Why or why not?
I truly prioritize my vacation days. In many ways, taking proper time off is a true testament to our mental health. It is something we should all strive for and make sure that we are giving ourselves. If you can afford a vacation, take it. If not, at least take some time every weekend to disconnect from your screen and immerse yourself in the outdoors or in whatever brings you joy. Your well-being (and by extension, your productivity) will thank you for it.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
The way I got involved in photography was by understanding the uniqueness of capturing an essence of a moment. The mystery behind the image is what captures the attention and vision of anyone who sees it. It’s like any other art. There are skilled photographers and then there are talented photographers. Digital photography has given us all the opportunity to master this art and make our own images unique and one of a kind.
With my desire to help people tell their stories, I wanted to make sure that whatever the story was, it would be told through beautiful images that were going to last forever. By serving an array of customers; some are looking for a photographer to capture the beauty of their wedding day or event, while others need someone who can capture the beauty of a child’s birthday party or family reunion.
My mission is to capture the essence of my client’s story so that they can remember it forever. If there is one thing I am most proud of, it’s that I get to do what I love on a daily basis. I get to interact with amazing clients who come to me with a desire to document their special moments. It’s truly a blessing to be able to make an impact through my work by sharing these personal moments in my clients’ lives.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of my work is bringing new ideas to life. During the creative process, I feel most inspired when I have a new idea and the vision to create it. As a photographer I get to experience the pleasure of being part of a significant moment while also creating a concrete, long-lasting reminder of that moment in time.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe what has helped my reputation the most is treating people with the utmost respect. I have gotten the majority of my clients by recommendations and that has meant the world to me. My clients trust me because I will always treat them with honesty, integrity and I will always be their biggest hype girl when we shoot together!
