Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nekia Ellison. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Nekia, appreciate you joining us today. Can you share a story with us from back when you were an intern or apprentice? Maybe it’s a story that illustrates an important lesson you learned or maybe it’s a just a story that makes you laugh (or cry)?

Back in 2020, I had just started putting myself out there. I ended up mentoring under a Bishop in Columbus. She’s helped me overcome my fear of using my gifts to help others. I was so afraid of the challenges that came with my profession, but she helped make it easier for me.

Nekia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I entered my industry when I tried to learn natural remedies to help heal my father from ALS. Research after research eventually lead me to the spiritual community where I learned about healing practices. I learned more about myself and how to deal with a lot of the emotional challenges that came with providing care for an ailing parent. The journey felt so freeing that it allowed me to mostly be at peace with the reality that I’d be losing my father. Along with freeing myself, I started learning about the wonderful world of mysticism. I’ve been dedicated to breaking curses, helping clients find love, and more.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

I had to unlearn the notion that hoodoo/root work is a bad thing. The elders from My neighborhood only learned about one side of it, but not the side that represents healing and freedom. I also have been programming myself to break free of the poverty mentality surrounding money. It’s been a task, but I strive daily to tell and show myself that I can achieve more.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

What helped me build my reputation was showing up for myself and others. Everything I make and do, I test it thoroughly on myself. That way, I know I’m not just selling people hopes and dreams. I only put out what I’ve seen make magick happen. I’m doing so, I’ve serviced customers from different states and countries.
