Nekei, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Please tell us about starting your own firm and if you’d do anything different knowing what you know now.
Starting my own firm I first had to decide about creating the a business that represented who I am as a person and what i want my clients to experience. The first interaction comes with the logo, and brand identity. Coming from a background of 1o years in marketing i knew exactly the brand message I wanted to convey which is modern sleek, rich, safe and most importantly powerful. When i first decided to create American Dreamers, I had the vision of a all in one place that individuals could go to fully get and understand their financial plans. Everyone talk about getting estate planning done one day but being able to get it done. I started American Dreamers in my apartment during Covid because I saw the need for education and resources. My employees would come to the house during Covid to make calls and help people get their finances together. Some key challenges I went through was finding the right team and staff. As a business owner not everyone is going to work the business as hard as you. There are alot of long hours working 6 to 7 days in the beginning to get everything off to the right start. Knowing what I know now, i would would make sure that I would start small and build little by little. Sometimes we want to grow quicker than we should and dont allow time for the grind. For a young professional out there I would say start early, grow your team organically and put in the hours, work twice as hard and your network is your networth

The most effective strategy for me is the power of networking. Meeting new people building that relationship and continuing to grow with that individual through doing amazing work and the power of asking for the referrals.

Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
Starting a business with the right amount of capital is a never ending process. We think that we have enough until the other bills start rolling in. I wanted to create the perfect financial brand that would help peopleT o get started I initially delivered food and did rideshare during the pandemic.
