Alright, Neil thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?

I got my first client by building a marketable portfolio that attracted my ideal audience by posting it on social media sites and lead-generating sites.

Neil, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I was modeling background as a teen. Photography became—a hobby by taking photos of fellow models for fun while recreating inspirational ideas from fashion magazines.

Later on, some models told me that they landed modeling jobs from the images that I had taken of them.

So, copying the styles of shooting and posing from popular magazines helped me create marketable images.

I had a natural gift for photography, but practicing very often increased my skills to a professional level fairly quickly.

Understanding storytelling through images is what took me to the next level from an amateur.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

Shooting a popular style that was created by people I followed on social media. That was my downfall.

Never change your style of shooting; you should only enhance your skill.

You will lose your ideal audience’s attention. It’s ok to admire another photographer’s work but remind shooting your unique style.

By sticking to a specific style and mastering it.
