Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Neil Jones. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Neil thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we talk about all of your success, let’s start with a story of failure. Can you open up about a time when you’ve failed?
My game developer story is a testament to resilience and determination. Despite facing significant challenges and discrimination in the game industry, they refused to be deterred. My journey began with a deep passion for game development, but they quickly realized the lack of opportunities for black developers in the industry.
Undeterred, I poured my heart into perfecting my craft, working tirelessly to create an impressive portfolio and taking on endless tests, all while facing rejection after rejection. Despite the countless setbacks, I refused to give up, pushing myselves to become someone that the industry couldn’t ignore.
After years of facing closed doors, I made a bold decision to create my own game, pouring a years of hard work and dedication into the project. To my surprise, the game gained traction and opened doors to opportunities I had never imagined. This success not only validated my years of hard work and dedication but also led to the founding of my own studio, where I now work on multiple titles with equity in my creations.
I try to serves as an inspiration to all aspiring game developers, especially those facing similar challenges. and remind them that perseverance, self-belief, and the willingness to carve out one’s own path can lead to incredible outcomes, even in the face of adversity.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience on social media by being very transparent about my development I think other developers really appreciate seeing someone having the same issues and problems as them and fans really appreciate seeing a game being developed right in front of their eyes

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I really appreciate the freedom I have when creating things when I wake up in the morning and I feel like adding a duck to my game I can literally do that within an hour and I don’t have to get it approved by anyone I can just do it because I think it’s cool
