Hi Nehemiah, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
STEMedia’s mission is deeply personal to me, inspired by my father’s journey. My journey began in 11th grade when my father suggested engineering. I secured a NASA internship and loved it, leading to my master’s and PhD. Interestingly, my father started engineering in college but didn’t finish due to a federal job opportunity and lack of community support. I stayed in engineering, but I saw many of my classmates not stay in the field as well.
This experience drove me to create a platform that offers the support and resources he missed, aiming to elevate and empower underrepresented groups in STEM. My dad eventually went back to school and finished his engineering degree, teaching me two invaluable lessons. First, there’s immense value in seeing someone you relate to achieve things you aspire to. Second, you must seize the opportunity of a lifetime within the lifetime of that opportunity. These lessons are at the heart of STEMedia’s mission, driving us to foster innovation and inclusion in STEM fields.

Nehemiah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
STEMedia was born out of this experience to provide the support and resources my father and many of my peers lacked. We are an edtech platform and media company dedicated to promoting diversity in STEM fields. Our offerings include video courses, live workshops, and digital content designed to engage and inspire young professionals, particularly those from underrepresented groups.
We solve the problem of access to quality STEM education and career opportunities by creating culturally resonant content and building a supportive community. What sets us apart is our focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion, and our commitment to delivering high-quality, impactful content.
I am most proud of landing PBS Digital Studios as a client to produce two science education shows and successfully hosting our own virtual summit for four years, peaking at around 3,000 registrations. These achievements underscore our commitment to excellence and our impact in the STEM education space.
I want potential clients, followers, and fans to know that STEMedia is dedicated to fostering innovation and inclusion in STEM fields. We are here to provide the support and resources needed to succeed, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive in their STEM careers.

Does your business have multiple or supplementary revenue streams (like a ATM machine at a barbershop, etc)?
STEMedia has multiple and supplementary revenue streams. We generate revenue through several channels, including:
– B2B Sales Contracts: We offer annual contracts to higher education institutions and corporate entities for custom production services, license access to our platform, sponsorship opportunities, and job postings for technical recruiters.
– Freemium Subscriptions: Individual users can access our platform through a freemium subscription model.
– Production Contracts: We produce educational and media content for various clients.
– Speaking Fees: We generate revenue through speaking engagements and workshops.
These diversified revenue streams help ensure the sustainability and growth of our business.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One story that illustrates my resilience is when I transitioned from a secure full-time job in engineering to focus entirely on STEMedia. Leaving the stability of a traditional career was daunting, but I believed in the mission of STEMedia to empower underrepresented groups in STEM. During the early stages, there were numerous financial and operational challenges. However, through persistent effort and unwavering commitment, I not only managed to keep the company afloat but eventually tripled our revenue within the two years. This journey reaffirmed my belief in the power of resilience and the importance of staying true to one’s mission, even in the face of adversity.
