We were lucky to catch up with Neela Asaadi recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Neela, thanks for joining us today. What’s the best or worst investment you’ve made (either in terms of time or money)? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
A business coach and a network/ community. When you are starting out, it is BEYOND important to find your people. Whether that means, a coach that is going to hold you accountable and help you take your business to the next level or… a networking group with like-minded individuals. I invested in both of these when I started out and still, till this day, 5 years later, I am a part of 2 networking groups that meet virtually 1x week.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Formally, I am a Graphic Designer turned business owner of Asaadi Graphics. We are a boutique design firm with an expertise in special occasion events and milestones. Building client relationships was always one of my favorite parts of the process, getting to know couples as they plan their wedding, working with a parent to plan and execute all of the details for their baby’s first birthday.
2011
But let’s take a step back and bring you up to speed on why you may be here. Exactly a decade ago, I struggled with chronic digestive issues which lasted for a majority of my 20’s. Unable to pinpoint the cause, I literally was no longer able take the pain. At that moment, I decided to take my health into my own hands. Without even knowing it at the time, this would be the start of my health journey.
2014-2020
Through challenge came enlightenment and awareness. I educated myself and discovered how to find harmony through nourishing both my mind and body. Giving myself permission to live through a holistic lens, my lifestyle began to improve with long-term, healthy and sustainable practices, not temporary fads. Small daily changes led to big time results.
2021
During the pandemic, I spent a lot of time investing in my own self-care. I was adamant to broaden my knowledge and dive deeper into the world of wellness. One thing led to another, and I finally enrolled in The Institute of Integrative Nutrition, graduating with a degree as a Certified Health and Nutrition Coach.
2022 & on
The reason I set out on this new adventure is because I am so passionate about people and human connection. We all face mental and physical roadblocks, but those moments become a part of our story. I am here to guide you through a transformation — that is sustainable, preventative, promotes balance and is inclusive. My approach is holistic, tapping into all aspects of life, both on and off the plate.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Freedom of expression. One of my favorite things about being a creative, is that you can share your story and parts of yourself through any artistic lens you choose. I am multi-passionate, and a lover of connecting with people. That has never limited me to what that means I can do. In fact, it has opened several doors for me to work with individuals that trust me with my craft. As a designer in the wedding space, I get the chance to be a part of a couple’s most special moments of their lives. As a holistic coach, I also get to work with individuals and groups that way to improve their overall health, wellness and connection to their soul. That is the most rewarding feeling, knowing that I am limitless in my creativity.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
One of my favorite books is by spiritual guru and motivational speaker, Gabrielle Bernstein. “The Universe Has Your Back” is a book I’ve picked up at many stages of my life and read through time and time again. Every single time, I learn new lessons and find myself growing from the literature on the pages. Her words are transcendent and relatable to all of us. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a book to spiritually awaken you.
