We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ndubuisi Emmanuel. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ndubuisi below.
Ndubuisi, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
My pursuit in the creative industry started professionally during my senior secondary school days. It happened that i and a friend of mine were the only ones who had a strong passion for the arts and had to be the only ones who wrote visual and creative Arts in WAEC ( west African examination council) out of over 1000 students. For me I will say that was the starting point looking at the challenges and the obstacles that I was faced with and was still able to drive through it for me was a great starting point in my artistic journey.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Anayo Ndubuisi Emmanuel. A graduate of visual and creative arts from the Federal University of Lafia Nasarawa State, Nigeria. I specialize in painting and charcoal drawing. I work on different subjects, but my major interest is in human portraiture, and this is because i find something interesting about the human face that tells a whole lot about personality traits and character. I tend to see how I can connect my viewers emotionally with my works, thereby creating a lasting impact on their minds. For me one of the things am proud of is the reaction my viewers and art patrons show each time they see my works and for me it’s always an humbling experience to see that I can create something that connects to people.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist for me is the process of creating every art piece. It’s always a joy seeing empty canvas surfaces or plane drawing sheets and within days and hours of working something amazing comes on that flat surface that attracts the attention of everyone for me that is the most rewarding aspect of my career as a professional artist.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal and mission in the creative journey is to always embrace growth and learning. At no point do I settle for less in my career. Competence and excellence are the major fuel that fires my passion.
