We were lucky to catch up with Nde Nkimbeng recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nde, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I named my business Your Event MC so people instantly knew what they were getting — a go-to place to book the best MC or host for their event. It’s simple, clear, and puts the client at the center.
As I grew, I realized my approach was different. With my engineering background, I wasn’t just hosting — I was designing the flow, managing energy, and optimizing every moment. That’s where The Engineer MC came in. It reflects how I don’t just hype up a room — I engineer unforgettable experiences. It captures both my technical roots and my intentional, results-driven approach to live events.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Nde Nkimbeng, but most people know me as The Engineer MC — a high-energy event host with a technical twist. I blend the charisma of a seasoned emcee with the precision of an engineer, which makes for a unique, results-driven experience on stage.
I started in this world almost by accident. I was emceeing college events and community programs on the side while building a career in engineering and later earning my MBA. But what I realized over time was that my approach to hosting events wasn’t just about “being hype” — I was mapping flows, analyzing audience reactions, adjusting pacing in real time, and finding ways to engineer emotional engagement. That was the lightbulb moment. I wasn’t just a host — I was designing experiences; An Event Experience Architect.
That led me to launch Your Event MC, LLC, where we specialize in providing high-level emcee services for fundraisers, galas, conferences, and live events that actually need results — not just vibes.
Whether I’m hosting a black-tie gala or moderating a tech summit, my goal is always the same: to turn passive attendees into active participants. I help clients elevate their events by boosting energy, driving audience engagement, and amplifying their mission — whether that means raising more money, honoring a cause, or creating a conference people talk about for months.
What sets me apart? I don’t just show up and “wing it.” I partner with clients ahead of the event to understand their goals, audience, and flow. I use my TECH Framework — Tailored Experience, Edutaining & Engaging delivery, Creative Flow, and High-Impact Results — to deliver an experience that’s strategic, not just entertaining.
I’m most proud of the moments where I’ve helped nonprofits exceed their fundraising goals (over $9M), helped sponsors feel truly seen, or had guests come up to me saying, “I thought this was going to be boring… but that was the best event I’ve ever attended.”
If you’re looking for an MC who can bring both energy and structure — someone who doesn’t just keep things moving, but makes every moment matter — then I’m your guy. Whether you’re planning a gala, summit, conference or awards show, let’s engineer an experience people will never forget.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Give away the thing most people try to charge for.
I create content specifically for event planners and organizers — not to sell, but to solve. I share frameworks, engagement strategies, behind-the-scenes stories, and real outcomes. I post regularly on LinkedIn to build my personal brand and position myself as the go-to MC for high-impact events.
The result? Clients come to me. Interns apply to work with me. I’ve stopped chasing — now I attract.
One of the biggest game-changers was creating a free lead magnet called “Why Your Audience Zoning Out Is Costing You Thousands — And How to Fix It.” It’s a plug-and-play blueprint that shows planners how to turn passive guests into engaged advocates. I could charge for it — but I don’t. Because value upfront builds trust long before a contract is signed.
In short: I give away what others hoard, and I earn attention by being genuinely useful. That’s what grows the business.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I’ll never forget the first time I got on stage. I was 10 years old, scheduled to perform a rap at an African cultural festival my dad helped organize. It was supposed to be my big debut — I was even promised $50, which felt like a million bucks at the time. But when I got on stage, in front of 300 people and live local TV… I froze. I cried. And I walked off the stage without performing — and without that $50.
That moment crushed me. But it also became the turning point. I made a decision that day: I wouldn’t let fear decide what stages I belonged on.
From that moment on, I worked on myself. I studied performance, practiced public speaking, and pushed through the nerves. Years later, I’ve now hosted over 150 events in five countries. I’ve raised millions for causes I care about, and I’ve been praised by mayors, CEOs, and organizers for the energy and intentionality I bring.
But every time I step on stage, I still carry that 10-year-old kid with me — not as baggage, but as proof that we can reinvent ourselves. I’m not here today because I was born confident. I’m here because I chose to become who I needed to be.
