We were lucky to catch up with Nazahn Warren recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nazahn, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I knew I wanted to be an artist at a young age. My dad used to do music, and would take me to the studio, sometimes. Also, I used to be around him and his friends when they were writing these songs. In fact, one of those writing sessions were when I wrote my first song. Ever since then, the only thing I’ve been truly passionate for is music. Outside of music, I’m not genuinely passionate for anything else, music just doesn’t pay the bills, at the moment. I’ll keep grinding, though, until it does. This is my dream!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Shotti, short for “CallMeShotti”. I have been thinking about a stage name change because I feel it’s more of a one dimensional rappers’ name, and I do R&B, pop, etc. However, Shotti is a nickname I was given in 9th grade and it just stuck. I’m an artist based in Philly, trying to make a name for myself. I’ve had some dealings with a lot of people in the industry, but I would say I’m still a highly underrated artist in the city. I think my versatility sets me apart from the rest, however, and my time is coming soon. I want my fans to know that I make music just for them to listen. I don’t care if they’re listening to a leaked song of mines or if it’s released, I just want the world to hear and love my music!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I would say the most rewarding aspect would be the people who love my music, and vocalize this. It’s something I always need to hear, for motivational purposes, and just knowing I made something you play over and over is so pleasing and makes me want to continue.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Networking, even though I’m terrible at it. I’m a very quiet person until I’m comfortable. Therefore, networking has always been an issue with me, so, I usually bring my friends with me to events and they kind of force me to talk to people. Doing this, and just going to parties and different events, I just happened to get to know a lot of people and connect. I also had a good amount of friends throughout grade school.
