We were lucky to catch up with Nayia Pierrakos recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nayia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you wish you had waited to start your own firm or do you wish you had started sooner?
I started real estate investing at 24 years old and I bought my first house. From there I was on my own for 8 years before I met my first mentor Dave. I learned a lot of tough lessons being in real estate on my own. At times I felt like quitting. Because of Dave, I learned to do things a little differently. Learned how to leverage other people’s money and using hard money loans to buy real estate and renovate houses. That had it’s own risks and rewards. After a few years of working with Dave and learned what he was doing right and what he was doing wrong, I made the decision to stop working with you. I was not comfortable with the risks. That’s when I met my second mentor Marko. Marko was a national coach and mentor and was teaching people how to buy houses creatively, leveraging existing loans, and not having to use hard money lenders. I felt like I won the lottery. From that point forward this is what I have been doing for over a decade. I have been helping sellers move on with their lives while creating wealth for myself and my family and I have been showing others to do the same thing since 2015.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
In 2008-09 when the market crashed I had to short sale my own house because we were going to lose it to foreclosure. My husband at the time had gotten laid off and we bought a franchise that was losing money. I had three little boys under the age of 5 and we could not afford daycare as it was $2k per month per kid. That was the time I went seeking for a mentor and started getting into real estate investing more seriously.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Having the intention to make them my friends first and bring as much value to them as I could. That’s when I created the Value Amplifier method.
