We were lucky to catch up with Natorie Dior Moreno recently and have shared our conversation below.
Natorie Dior, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
In March 2021, my life took a dramatic turn. A severe car accident in Milpitas, California, left me with significant injuries to my head, right shoulder, and right leg after another vehicle rear-ended mine, totaling my car. The impact was more than physical; it deeply affected my daily life. Simple tasks became monumental challenges. The pain was not only physical but mental, as I struggled to perform basic activities such as showering, dressing, or even opening a water bottle. Known for my independence and determination, this sudden incapacity devastated me and put all my plans on hold. It was during a routine visit to replace a cracked mouthguard that an unexpected opportunity arose to change the course of my life.
Our family orthodontist, who had long been a pillar of support, sensed my struggles. He offered me a lifeline—an invitation to join an Executive Training Program led by Coach Ron Kardashian at Le Confidant Inc. He believed that I was meant to cross his path for this very reason, feeling a deep conviction to sponsor my participation. This program would prove to be a transformative journey, beginning with a rigorous assessment that delved into my emotional, intellectual, and adaptability quotients through over 250 questions. The results illuminated strengths and weaknesses, providing insights that resonated with my experiences, particularly the recent adversities that had shaken my world.
The pandemic had already eroded my long-held dream of becoming a doctor, revealing the industry’s prioritization of profit over people. Disillusioned, I felt lost. The program with Coach Ron, coupled with the realization brought on by my injuries, prompted a profound reevaluation of my life’s direction. I decided to leave the medical field and return to my earlier passion for real estate—a field where I could be part of people’s best days, helping them find homes, build wealth, and transition to new life chapters.
Real estate offered a platform to connect with people from diverse backgrounds and help turn their dreams into reality. My role expanded beyond mere transactions; I became a confidante and strategist, helping clients navigate one of their most significant life decisions. My daily activities now involve studying the market, visiting properties, and engaging with community members to provide a deeper understanding of the areas I serve.
The journey through adversity has not only redefined my professional life but has also reignited a passion for guiding and advising others. My mission is clear: to specialize in my field, continuously improve, and empower others to build generational wealth. This path is not just a career—it is a calling to make a meaningful impact, ensuring that my clients are well-informed and prepared for their futures in Silicon Valley. This story of transformation is a testament to the power of resilience, the importance of community, and the profound impact of finding one’s true calling.
Natorie Dior, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Growing up, I recognized early on that I had a profound ability to overcome adversity. This strength was not born out of ease but shaped through numerous challenges during my youth. Raised in a family engaged in real estate, the true essence and potential of this field weren’t initially clear to me. It was only later in life, through education and personal inquiry, that I understood real estate’s power to build generational wealth—a concept that deeply resonated with me and fueled my desire to make a significant impact.
From a young age, I was drawn to helping others. My commitment to community service began with an involvement in the Blue Bomber Crew, a non-profit dedicated to supporting children in low-income neighborhoods. Our mission was comprehensive: we provided nourishing meals, access to enriching summer programs, and lessons in vital life skills at our Sunday School. These activities were aimed not just at aiding them in the present, but at showing them that life could offer more than the confines of their immediate circumstances.
The pivotal year of 2020 marked a significant shift in my career trajectory. Despite holding degrees in neuroscience and biology and an initial passion for the medical field, I found the reality of healthcare disheartening. I was frequently confronted with patients experiencing their worst days, compounded by an insurance system that often denied them necessary support. This realization led me to reconsider my path.
It was then that a friend introduced me to the possibilities within real estate, particularly through a brokerage known as EQ1 Real Estate. This encounter steered me towards a mission-driven career where I could not only assist individuals in understanding and accessing real estate as a means of building generational wealth but also give back to the community that had formed me. My experiences as an empathetic problem solver in my youth, combined with my professional skills, have uniquely positioned me to empower others through this mission. This path is not just a career; it is a meaningful pursuit deeply rooted in my own story of perseverance and desire to enact positive change.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I’ve always believed in the power of genuine connections, and I apply this philosophy to every aspect of my real estate practice. During interactions with clients, I pay close attention, noting their hobbies, favorite vacation spots, and more. This meticulous attention to detail enables me to tailor each interaction specifically to their real estate needs and preferences, particularly when identifying what they’re looking for in a home. I pride myself on asking thorough questions—I aim to go beyond the basics to truly understand their lifestyle and aspirations. This deep curiosity about people’s personal stories, coupled with my background in neuroscience, enhances my ability to connect with clients on a meaningful level.
In fostering brand loyalty, I engage deeply with the Silicon Valley community. Leveraging my extensive family history and detailed knowledge of the area, I enrich client interactions with unique insights into the local real estate market. My newsletters and social media posts are more than just updates; they weave narratives that connect clients to both the historical and upcoming developments in Silicon Valley. On Instagram, I share detailed narratives from home tours, highlighting distinctive features and potential of various properties, helping clients visualize their future homes and the lifestyle that accompanies them.
From my perspective as a realtor, my educational background in neuroscience provides a unique advantage. It equips me with a nuanced understanding of client behaviors and preferences, enabling me to anticipate their needs and customize my approach to real estate consulting. This tailored approach not only distinguishes me in a competitive market but also makes my services especially relevant and personal to each client’s unique situation.
Ultimately, my approach to real estate is defined by authenticity. I strive to remain true to my roots and showcase what makes me distinctively valuable, avoiding the temptation to conform to industry stereotypes. Each day, I dedicate time to studying the nuances of Santa Clara County’s real estate market, ensuring I’m abreast of the latest trends, developments, and opportunities. This rigorous analysis is not just a professional duty—it’s a personal commitment to understand every facet of the community I serve. In the fast-paced and competitive realm of Silicon Valley real estate, my deep knowledge and authenticity set me apart, enhancing the value of my services and cementing my reputation. By consistently reflecting my true self and the depth of my local expertise in how I conduct my business, I ensure that my brand remains memorable and trustworthy, forging lasting relationships based on authenticity and expert insight.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Growing up I was instilled with the idea that academic excellence was the key to success. Throughout my schooling the focus was on becoming book smart with the belief that gathering more knowledge equated to future triumphs. This notion pushed me to prioritize grades and scholarly achievements above all else. At the time I was convinced that mastering textbook information was the most direct pathway to my goals.
However, my perspective began to change as I transitioned into the professional realm, especially within the dynamic environment within Silicon Valley. I quickly realized that being book smart was only part of the success equation and that the challenges I encountered required more than just academic knowledge. They demanded practical solutions, a blend of common sense and an understanding of real-world dynamics. It became evident that to truly excel I needed to be well-rounded, combining book learning with real-life experience.
The diversity of Silicon Valley added another layer to this learning curve. Success here wasn’t solely determined by market knowledge but also by the ability to navigate through a myriad of cultural perspectives. Understanding the diverse backgrounds of the people I interacted with became crucial. It wasn’t enough to know about different markets. I needed to appreciate and integrate the cultural nuances that influenced business relationships in this multicultural hub.
This understanding was put to the test last spring when I met the Smiths, a couple searching for their dream home in Silicon Valley. From our initial conversation, I learned about Mr. Smith’s passion for hiking and Mrs. Smith’s enthusiasm for sustainable gardening. When I later found a listing with a spacious garden designed with drought-resistant plants and nearby hiking trails, I knew it would resonate with them. During their home tour, I highlighted these features, demonstrating how the home and community aligned with their lifestyle. The Smiths were thrilled, not just with the property, but also with how I had anticipated their needs, reflecting a service that was genuinely tailored to them. This experience solidified their trust and deepened their loyalty to my brand.
By evolving from a focus on book-smarts to embracing a broader, more empathetic approach, I’ve not only enhanced my professional capabilities but also ensured that my interactions are meaningful and my services are highly valued. This blend of knowledge and understanding has proven essential in helping my clients not just find a house, but a home where they can truly thrive.
