We recently connected with Natisha Mosier and have shared our conversation below.
Natisha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I took ceramics in high school, but it wasn’t until many years later that I started taking classes at a Non Profit Art organization with my son, that I fell in love with clay. The organization offered many art classes such as drawing, painting, photography but we decided to try ceramics first. I was seriously hooked. We would go almost every Saturday morning learning hand building techniques and just play. I couldn’t wait until the next class to make more pieces or glaze.
I don’t think I would have done anything to speed up my learning process. It all happened organically. I got to spend time with my son, and it was such a lovely experience. I wish I actually took more classes with him throughout the years.
The most essential skills that I learned was to work carefully with porcelain. It’s a finicky material, but I absolutely love the way the colors pop on the smooth white porcelain.
At first, the only obstacle that stood in my way was time. I had to wait until Saturday mornings to play with clay. But as the need to learn grew, I invested in a bag of clay, a few basic glaze colors and a tiny kiln that could fit in my garage. I now had the tools to play at home and more often!

Natisha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
All my friends and family call me Tisha, or Tish. I’ve always been a creative soul. You could always find me writing short stories, learning to sew, paint with watercolors and now creating porcelain and precious metal jewelry, as well as ceramic pieces for the home. After taking ceramics at the non profit art organization, I knew I wanted to create tiny works of art. I wanted to create something you could wear daily, and that is how Blue Rochelle began. My work has been described as rustic, but yet elegant, dainty and feminine. I had a kind soul pick up a lavender trinket dish. She said it reminded her or her grandmothers china, but yet it was rustic enough to use daily and not to only be used on special occasions. I feel like the organic, rustic elements of my work paired with gold luster and precious metals makes my work one of a kind and so special. I am so very proud of my entire brand. Blue is my sons favorite color and Rochelle is my middle name. This brand represents motherhood, and an extension of my create soul. I put so much care into the way my pieces are packaged, to the handwritten notes and wax seals, to sourcing the best materials. I’m so proud of every milestone that I’ve accomplished in the past 5 years.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative, is knowing that my work will be loved and cherished by another soul. The first time that I sold a piece of jewelry or a trinket dish, (that was not family) I was delighted. My work was being gifted to a daughter or a wife, someone treating themselves after a difficult time, or gifting to their mom. Knowing that my work, even a tiny pair of studs or a hand glazed dish can put a smile on someones face is such a beautiful experience.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I still have a very small social media following, but that best advice that I can give, is stay consistent and be true to you. I know it sounds cliche, but it is so true. Share what you love, what you don’t love. Share your struggles, and your accomplishments. Build your community, just as you would work to build any relationships or friendships. It takes time but that is how I’ve been building my online presence.
