We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Natheree Lackey a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Natheree, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the story of how you went from this being just an idea to making it into something real.
How did I start lol funny question , so in 2020 I started a clothing line called NQC (Natheree Queens collection) where I sold women’s clothes & of course I modeled them myself, but as I continued to sell clothes and model them myself EVERYONE said I should be a model. So fast forward to 2022 I decided to take modeling serious & I took my first modeling class in February 2022 and then had my first show. After my first show it was just a feeling I had that I knew modeling was for me.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello, my name is Natheree Lackey & I am 27 years old from Conyers, GA. It’s funny how my storyline goes about me getting into modeling. In 2020 I began a clothes company called NQC (Natheree Queens Collection) where I sold women’s clothes & swimsuits. While running the brand I was my own model so eventually, people started to see that I looked more & more like a model. Once I got tired of hearing I should model, in February 2022 I looked into modeling & took my first modeling class. I learned a lot during that weekend & that’s when I took a leap off in faith & went to my first casting call in March. Fast forward I was selected & my first fashion show was in April 2022. When I say from then on I was able to see the vision I just knew modeling was for me. SO fast forward I applied to be a model for Rise NYFW which took place September 8th & we were advised we would get confirmation if we would be a part of the show on May 15th. Sooooooo I got the confirmation that I was casted to be a part of NYFW for Rise NY. September came & we were at the show behind the scenes getting ready, I got fitted by my designer & they did my makeup & hair. Now at this point, we were waiting on our turn to walk. It finally came to our turn to walk & I did my thing & was very PROUD of myself. I literally had just started modeling in April 2022 & there I was at NYFW in September 2022. Fast forward to 2023 & another big accomplishment I was casted to be a part of Miami swim week produced by Emon.gee ,another big accomplishment. I thank GOD for all my opportunities & just everything he has blessed me with thus far. I also have been blessed enough to collab/ambassador for a couple of companies. One specifically I would like to acknowledge is Creattieanndesigns who I met last year in 2022 from a photo shoot & literally was offered a brand ambassador role from the shoot &ive been working with the brand since. Also, another brand I’ve worked with a couple of times with is SPgbk photos taken by Catteyemedia which is a black-owned business that sells watches. Im just proud of ALL my accomplishments ive achieved so far.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I would say the most effective strategy for growing clientele is staying consistent. I try to always try to stay booked because it shows clients that’s im willing to work & im busy. Staying consistent also helps grow your clientele b/c it gives new eyes chances to see what you can do for their brand.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to be an international paid model.
