Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nathaniel Nicholas . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Nathaniel, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Fashion & style have been a creative outlet for me since I was a child. I was never good at drawing or sewing yet I loved putting together different colors and patterns to create outfits of self-expression. My entrepreneurial desire and vision for what would be come BronzeRock,LLC came to me as a young teenager.
I began mapping out the steps and requirements I needed to make my dreams of entrepreneurship a reality. This vision ultimately lead me to pursue a college education at Belmont University. I began building the foundation for BronzeRock in college. One year after I graduated from Belmont we officially launched BronzeRock,LLC. I created BronzeRock with the vision of creating quality streetwear & e-commerce solutions that would endow our clients style & culture. As both a creative and business mind, I founded BronzeRock as a passion project to create luxury streetwear for luxury brands & high-end consumers.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Certainly, my name is Nathaniel Nicholas. I am an entrepreneur and the founder of two companies. I founded a record label and I founded BronzeRock,LLC which is the topic of our conversation here today.
Additionally, I am a drummer with 20+ years of playing experience.
BronzeRock Is a fashion brand where our goal is to create quality streetwear & e-commerce solutions that endow our clients style and culture.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
The main lesson I have learned in leadership is, to lead with a posture of humility. As a leader, the goal is to be a great servant. Listen to your people, don’t just assume you know best. Trust your people when they have demonstrated trustworthiness. Set your pride aside and make your people feel heard, valued and appreciated. This creates a passionate loyalty across the brands internal operations. They wouldn’t have their job with out you, but you wouldn’t be in your currant position without them. Have a disposition of gratitude and a backbone to protect the people who are relying on you. The leadership style I have adapted overtime can be described in two words: “Tough & Tender”. Tough for the people that rely on me, and Tender towards the people that rely on me.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Entrepreneurship is a strong passion of mine. I view Investing as the wise outcome of entrepreneurial success. However, when it comes to being on the receiving end of an investor, I have never been a fan of the idea. I personally have never been comfortable with the idea of pursuing my business endeavors at the cost of taking on debt and sharing the brand vision. In my case, I felt bootstrapping was the only wise option. While it can make things in the beginning move a lot slower, bootstrapping BronzeRock into existence has allowed me to keep the business debt free. Bootstrapping has also allowed me to retain my freedom and autonomy within the brand. Bootstrapping capital to start and operate a business can be both physically and emotionally draining; yet the benefits have far out weighed the cost for me.
Depending on the business, bootstrapping 100% of capital may not be realistic. Yet bootstrapping is a powerful method that I believe all business owners can leverage.
