Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nathaniel Moore. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Nathaniel, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with a hypothetical question – if it were up to you, what would you change about the school or education system to better prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career?
I went to college pretty much because that was the main option presented to me. Looking back, if I had been presented an opportunity to do a long-term apprenticeship at a marketing firm or record label that would have been much more beneficial.
Colleges can charge exorbitant amounts for tuition because student debt is backed by the taxpayer (i.e. student loans are not bankrupt able), and also because people keep paying them despite unnecessary price hikes!
Forgiving student debt may sound nice on the surface, but if the loans are so bad in the first place, the forgiveness is not addressing the root cause.
Instead, we should introduce more and more competition into the marketplace in terms of what’s deemed higher education. Many fields do not require any certification so to speak to begin working in a field. Employers simply want to know can you do what you say you can do.
In my field, I couldn’t care less if someone went to college or not as long as they are hard-working, integral, and intuitive. Personally, I learned more about business by paying for two online courses in 2014 than I did in 4 years of college. The courses cost me less than $200 combined.
Most Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math professions can benefit from some form of traditional higher education, but for other fields such as marketing, sales, and the like, college is not necessary at all. Education and college are not synonymous. College is merely one type of education.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
In 2014, I packed up my old Chrysler Sebring (that was on it’s last leg) with all my possessions and moved to Atlanta, GA to pursue a career in music.
Being a music producer at the time, I began to learn the ins and outs of marketing so that I could sell more beats and instrumentals to prospective artists.
As I did that, more and more artists began asking me if I marketed other musicians besides myself.
Seeing the rapidly growing demand for education and marketing services, I decided to try my hand at marketing other artists on Spotify, YouTube, Social Media, & more.
In a short period of time, the marketing services side of the business completely overtook the music production side, & the birth of the Omari Promotion Agency began.
Since then, Omari Music Promotions has garnered millions of website visits to our popular articles & services, helped over 19,000 artists promote their music through custom advertising campaigns, provided dozens of jobs, and generated millions in sales.
The company has solidified itself as one of the top independent music marketing agencies online, all while making the decision to stand firm on principles and not promote content with vulgarity, misogyny, drug abuse, & senseless violence.
The music industry is riddled with labels that have no problem promoting and encouraging people to denigrate themselves. We don’t need another company to fall in line and turn a blind eye to morals for a check. That is why we believe God has called us to be a light in the music industry. While we promote music from every genre and from people of all walks of life (and get about an even amount of submissions across all them), I personally am a Christian, so my faith plays a role in how we run things.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
People often say, “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.” However, it’s really a mix of both. Who you know can certainly be a great source of networking and mutual exchange of ideas. What you know can sometimes lead you to who you know though! I’ve made several friends in the business simply because they liked my content and we formed business relationships after coming across each others content online. I consistently post music marketing tips and make advertisements for my business, and another music influencer (Taylor Swift’s former manager), saw the content and decided to reach out to me to be a guest on his podcast. We’ve been collaborating ever since!

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
SEO (search engine optimization). It’s not the sexiest thing that everyone wants to hear, and it doesn’t go as fast as paying for ads or going viral on social media, but it is the most consistent form of free website traffic there is. You don’t own your social media pages. You do own your website. You want to drive people to places that you own as much as possible. While we do focus on social media as well, SEO consistently brings the majority of web traffic to our site.
