Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nathaniel Bryan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Nathaniel thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My mission is simply to help and inspire people through fitness. I worked for 15 years helping incarcerated youth to realize their potential as men. Trying to make them understand that it’s way more than just your block, your city, and your circumstances because I came from the same places, around the same bad influences and situations but it’s the mindset to want better. Since leaving that chapter of my life God gave me a passion for fitness and training people so that they can become aware of how great their bodies are, their health is THE most important thing because you only get one life, one body so why not take great care of it? I believe my mission on this earth is to help others and if fitness is how God wants me to help people then I will do my very best to make sure that I do that. I’m just grateful to have PURPOSE because for many years I was just living life not knowing what my next move would be but with patience, prayer, and trusting God’s word I am doing what I LOVE to do every day.

Nathaniel, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Nathaniel “Tony” Bryan, I’m born and raised in Charleston, SC and I currently reside in Atlanta, GA. I’m a former college basketball player and graduate of Georgia Southwestern Univ. where I graduated with a Marketing degree. I have a Masters’s degree from Liberty Univ. in Sports Management. I worked for 15 years for the State of Ga in juvenile corrections.
I got into the fitness industry because I prayed that God would help me to realize another passion of mine because at the time the only thing that I was passionate about was my family and basketball so after I finished playing college basketball I needed something else to keep my competitive juices flowing so no better thing than competing with yourself right? I provide Personal Training and Online Training…it’s not even a job because I love what I do. I also just started my own gym/inspirational clothing company called RDF Brand. It’s an inspirational gym and life quotes on t-shirts, hoodies, and tank tops to help people get through tough workouts and life’s trials and tribulations. I’m looking to expand into other areas but still doing the necessary research so that it’s well-received and wanted.
I solve weight loss, strength, and agility problems. I’ve helped hockey, football, baseball, lacrosse, and basketball players to get in better shape, stronger, and faster. I train moms, dads, kids, teens, and adults to get stronger, shed weight, and educate them on how to train correctly so that they can continue to train effectively, efficiently, and with continued passion when we no longer train together because as a trainer it’s our job to educate our clients so that they can teach others about fitness and becoming healthier citizens. My knowledge, experience, and work ethic set me apart from others. I keep my training as simple as possible (sometimes) so that my clients can learn and understand what we’re doing and why we’re doing what we do.
I’m most proud of how many people I’ve been able to help in the short time I’ve been training. I’m most proud of the relationships that I have with my clients. My clients are very important to me because they trust me enough to help them to get in better physical shape and so many of them have taught me about things that I have used to my benefit. It amazes me that I get the opportunity to do something that I love to do every day and it doesn’t feel like work at all. I could get 4 hours of sleep and be tired but when it’s time to help my clients to get better I’m on 10 then. I want potential clients/followers/fans to know that I’m here to help them become better than themselves, I want them to know that I won’t let them fail…I won’t let them fail themselves because yes I’M GOING TO HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE but as long as they know that everything that I do and say is for them to get better.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
RESULTS. Having a great relationship with a client is great, and having a great relationship with staff is great but…If those clients aren’t getting what they pay you for then having great talks doesn’t matter. They pay me for RESULTS…clients want to look better, feel better, be healthier and more importantly, they have families that they want to be around for. Having great personal relationships is great because people want to feel like they are listened to, and cared for and to know that their trainer is doing ALL they can to help them to accomplish their fitness goals. What’s been most effective for me as far as growing my clientele honestly has been favor, skill, and getting my current clients RESULTS. If I don’t know what I’m doing people will NOT want to hire me so that’s why I’m constantly learning about fitness…whatever credible publication I can read that will help me to make my clients better I’m reading it and applying it to my training program.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I’ve had to pivot so much in my life that I can write a book on it but in all honesty, I’ve had to pivot from myself. I’ve had to get out of my own way and let God take care of it bc when I try to control different situations I screw it up every time. I’ve had to correct how I communicate with people because I was taught to lead by actions but people want communication and to see the action behind it and I haven’t always been the best at doing both so I’m working to become a better man of my word and to perform at my best. Getting out of my way and just letting God work has opened my eyes so much and it’s given me so many opportunities that I only dreamed of. To go from being a kid/teen/adult that was ignored, looked over, taken for granted, and with extremely low self-esteem I’ve had to learn to use it as inspiration to keep working, keep praying and keep believing in myself and in my skill set. I’m pretty damn good at what I do and I give God all the glory for all that he has blessed me with so far but this is only the beginning.
