Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nathan Wagner. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Nathan, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I had grown up doing a lot of theater, and I think that that background in live performance helped me a lot in my development as an entertainer. As a kid, I was obsessed with cartoons and animation, combining this with my theater background, I found that voice acting was a super fulfilling and exciting type of performance!
When I began to take voice acting seriously as a profession, both attending workshops and creating voice-over content were incredibly helpful steps in making connections and honing my craft. Learning to collaborate and be open to direction are essential skills, and adopting that mindset early on was incredibly important.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got my start a few years ago by attending a few classes and workshops on voice acting. There I delved into voicing for commercials, narration, and animation, while also working and learning alongside some of the actors that would become my biggest inspirations and closest friends! While working on my acting ability and range I invested in a home recording setup and got to work auditioning for all sorts of projects, specifically web animation and small indie video games.
Student animators are specifically some of my favorite people to work with! People in that world often have a ton of passion and excitement for what they do, making them super fulfilling to voice for. Since I started, I’ve been fortunate enough to be in a number of exciting projects! I have gotten to play everything from a suave superspy to a robot announcer to a giant monster fish! As a voice actor, I pride myself on my versatility and character work! The challenge of bringing humanity and life to every character I play is what draws me in to voice acting as a medium of performance!

How did you build your audience on social media?
I’ve been lucky enough to foster a nice following on TikTok. I post voice-over content on a number of social media platforms, mostly small sketches, and impressions videos. Instagram was a really instrumental tool for gaining traction as a voice actor, but when I made the switch to TikTok my content got a lot of attention. I think the type of content that I post is more conducive to TikTok’s algorithm, which seems to favor fast-paced and attention-grabbing content that caters to specific fan bases. I’ve found success by tailoring my content specifically to the platform that I’m using.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most exciting thing about being a voice actor is the actors and artists that I’ve gotten the opportunity to work with! The voice-over community can be very supportive and helpful to one another. At its best, people are always sharing information, advice, and opportunities. We work to build each other up!
Voice acting can be scary starting out. In my opinion, it involves a small journey of self-discovery and there are a lot of things to learn but, meeting people who are just as passionate and excited about this work as you are is encouraging and electrifying in its own way.
