Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nathan Rospond. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Nathan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I first knew that when I started to take music more seriously, around 2020-2021 I I saw pretty good growth coming from the Just Blue project and was looking forward to where it was and is going to go in the future. After those years I saw even more growth in the project and ended up playing my first show in August 2022. It was at a venue called Bass Station which I have played this past weekend and multiple times after my first debut. And yeah now I really love what I do and am happy that I want this as my future.

Nathan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am Just Blue, real name Nathan. I am a Dj and music producer. I am from the suburbs of Chicago IL. I first started Djing/Producing when I was 9. Ever since I played GTA Chinatown Wars and Goat SImulator which had the DJ Deadmau5 in them. I have always wanted to do something like him. After looking into who Deadmau5 was I started listening to his music and actually enjoyed it. I slowly started listening to artists like Skrillex and Zomboy which quickly led me into liking dubstep as well. I got Ableton Live 9 when I was 9 after looking up what software Deadmau5 used for music. I started off making terrible house songs inspired by Tchami and Malaa. I then started making dubstep and things like that. I went down the whole rabbit hole of producing different genres until I found Riddim. Which I then started making and was seeing pretty good growth from it. I made more and more and got better and better, now where I am now is in a reall good spot I think. I’ve played multiple shows and have made pretty good money off of it which is a great bonus. And I am very exited to see where it goes from here. For products I would make and services I would provide would probably just be Merch. I am into clothing, fashon, and graphic design. I have made a bunch of cover arts for friends and myself. And I do wanna make my own clothing soon.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Probably seeing all of these people supporting me everywhere. Whether it would be in a crowd at one of my shows. Or just liking my posts and music on social media. I wanna end up getting a big fanbase that would show out to other states if im preforming and such. Basically a big dedicated fanbase.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Yes, other artists outside of electronic really inspire me. Such as Playboi Carti and his whole group of people on his label. I really love all their work they do. For games, Portal 2 really inspires me to sound design more, idk why I guess it just does.
