Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nathan Quick. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Nathan, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright, so one thing we think people don’t talk about nearly enough is investments – either time or money. What’s one of the best or worst investments you’ve made and what did you learned from the experience?
My best investment as a business owner, is taking the time to work on myself honing in all the tools and skills needed to offer the best possible services to my clients. When I decided to go into music full time, I spent countless hours working on skills not only as a musician, but as a speaker, teacher, a teacher of young students, and a performer. I reached out to successful performers, business owners, and teachers to understand and develop my own set of skills. The time I took to learn and understand all the different aspects of being a business owner, a teacher, and a performer has really paid off in the long run.

Nathan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a musician (teacher & performer) and have been interested in music my whole life. I enjoy sharing the passion of music and I customize how I teach, and produce music on a one on one basis. There isn’t a cookie cutter way of learning something that is supposed to be representative of self expression and art, this is why my way of working with clients separates me from many of my peers.
I am most proud of my students/artists that I have worked with that have stuck to creating and have had so much improvement in their craft and I have seen the happiness blossom from their strides in their musical journey.
I have worked with producers and recording studios in Houston, Los Angeles, and Nashville.
As a performer, I have played Free Press Summerfest, SXSW, and have opened shows for Samantha Fish, Christone Kingfish Ingram, Eric Lindell, and got to play the same stage as Father John Misty.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Talking to people, having a good product/attitude, and word of mouth
Have you ever had to pivot?
Before doing my current career, I had decided to leave my oil and gas job working offshore
