Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nathan Luce. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Nathan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry
Personal training is evolving rapidly, reflecting broader shifts in health, wellness, and technology. One major trend is the rise of specialized training programs. Trainers are focusing on niches like corrective exercise, senior fitness, or youth sports, catering to specific populations with tailored expertise. Alongside this, online and hybrid training models have gained prominence. Many trainers now offer a mix of virtual and in-person sessions, leveraging apps and video platforms to connect with clients worldwide.
Wearable technology has also become integral to the profession. Trainers are using data from devices like smartwatches to track client progress and personalize programs. Functional and holistic fitness is another key trend, with trainers emphasizing mobility, recovery, and mental well-being over purely aesthetic goals. Nutrition and lifestyle coaching are increasingly part of the package, as clients seek a more comprehensive approach to health.
Group training remains popular, with many trainers focusing on community-building through small-group classes or boot camps. Sustainability has also become a factor, as eco-conscious clients gravitate toward trainers who incorporate outdoor workouts or environmentally friendly practices. These shifts highlight the dynamic nature of the personal training field, as it continues to adapt to changing client needs and industry advancements.

Nathan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Nathan, a personal trainer and owner of True Living Fitness, a brand rooted in helping individuals achieve a sustainable, healthy, and fit lifestyle. My journey into the fitness industry began over 15 years ago, driven by a passion for transforming lives through health and wellness. I’ve always been fascinated by how movement, nutrition, and mindset can come together to create lasting change, and I knew early on that I wanted to help others unlock their full potential.
At True Living Fitness, we provide personal training services tailored to each client’s unique needs, including strength training, functional fitness, weight loss, and lifestyle coaching. We also incorporate a holistic approach, offering guidance on nutrition, recovery, and wellness practices. I aim to create a supportive and empowering environment where clients feel confident and capable of achieving their goals.
One of the key problems I help clients solve is creating sustainable habits. Many people struggle with maintaining results long-term, and I pride myself on equipping them with tools and strategies that make fitness a natural part of their lives—not just a short-term fix. What sets True Living Fitness apart is our focus on personalization and community. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned athlete, every program is customized, and we emphasize building relationships that foster accountability and motivation.
I’m most proud of the impact we’ve made on our clients’ lives. Seeing someone reclaim their confidence, overcome health challenges, or achieve a milestone they never thought possible is incredibly rewarding. I also take pride in leading by example, sharing my own journey, and being transparent about my challenges and growth.
For anyone considering working with me, I want you to know that my approach is grounded in empathy, expertise, and a genuine desire to help you succeed. True Living Fitness isn’t just about workouts; it’s about transforming how you view yourself and your capabilities. Whether you’re stepping into fitness for the first time or looking to level up your performance, I’m here to support you every step of the way.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Absolutely. One story that stands out is when I made the decision to move back to Colorado after spending six years in Los Angeles. My time in LA was exhilarating—a whirlwind of city life, personal growth, and incredible food experiences—but it also came with its challenges.
Leaving behind the fast-paced city and transitioning back to the quieter, mountain-filled lifestyle of my hometown wasn’t easy. It meant readjusting to a slower pace, rebuilding connections, and redefining my career goals. The shift was a leap of faith, especially as I balanced co-parenting my daughter Paige and establishing my own fitness business, **True Living Fitness**.
Through it all, I leaned into my resilience, trusting that my values of family, adventure, and sustainable health would guide me. The mountains re-centered me, and I found strength in creating a life that aligned with what truly mattered—helping others build healthier lifestyles and cherishing time with my daughter. That period taught me how to adapt, grow, and stay grounded no matter what life throws my way.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was that success is defined by constant hustle and external validation.
When I lived in Los Angeles, the culture revolved around being busy and achieving visible success. I thought I had to keep moving at full speed, chasing milestones, and proving my worth through accolades and financial gains. It worked for a while, but it came at a cost—I felt drained, disconnected, and less present for the things that truly mattered, like my relationships and my sense of self.
The turning point came when I became a father. Holding my daughter Paige for the first time made me realize that no accomplishment could ever replace the joy of meaningful connections and a balanced life. Moving back to Colorado reinforced that lesson. The mountains reminded me to slow down and appreciate life’s simplicity.
I had to unlearn the idea that slowing down meant failure. Instead, I reframed it as strength—a chance to realign with my purpose. Now, I focus on building a life centered around wellness, family, and authenticity, not just checking boxes of achievement. It’s been liberating and has made my journey more fulfilling.
