Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nate Paxton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Nate thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about serving the underserved.
Yes, so I’ve recently launched my nonprofit called Just in the Nick of Time (JNT) and we serve the underserved community. Back story behind (JNT) is I grew up with very humble beginnings and no matter what my family and I went through GOD always showed up just in the nick of time for us. So I choose to be a vessel used by GOD to show up just in the nick of time for those people similar to my family.
The goal of JNT is to mentor, guide, and advance the academic and athletic careers of underprivileged young student athletes. Through personalized mentorship programs, comprehensive educational support, and first class marketing systems, we aim to create scholarship opportunities for these young individuals.
Our organization is committed to providing a supportive environment where low resource and limited exposure student athletes can be recognized for their academic and athletic accomplishments.
Together, we are dedicated to creating opportunities that can help them reach their full potential.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Nate Paxton and I’m from Scottdale, Georgia. I grew up in a very tough neighborhood where all the odds are stacked against young black males. I grew up not having as much as the next, and homeless for a good amount of my life but that never stopped me from wanting more out of life it just made me hungrier. Being that I never had much it made me appreciate things a lot more than most people. I’ve been blessed to have two amazing parents who taught me on how to make the most out of everything and turn negative situations into positive Ones. I know the man that I am today is solely due to the humble beginnings I’ve had.
With such humble beginnings I was able to go on to Georgia State University and play college football where I went from a walk-on to on a full scholarship and from a guy who was just on the team to a team captain earning tons of awards, playing time, and most importantly my degree making me the first in my family to graduate college. From there I went on to have multiple opportunities to further my professional career from NFL workouts with the Falcons and Seahawks, to playing overseas in China, CFL workouts, arena football in the IFL and so much more.
In 2022 I decided to retire from the game I grew up loving and the game that helped literally change my life. From there I was looking to impact the community by providing resources to the youth to help them gain many or some of the same opportunities I’ve gained through college academics and athletics. This is why with the help of my amazing mom and younger brothers I launched my nonprofit to cater toward the underserved and underprivileged community.
Over the last 3-4 years I’ve helped 500+ kids earn athletic scholarships to go to college and have generated well over $6 million dollars in financial aid and this is just the start.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience online by keeping GOD at the center of everything I do and utilizing my platform as a former D1 football player/coach as well as professional athlete.
See I understand people matter and I know people don’t care about how much you know until they know how much you care. Add value to others and help them solve their problems.
What sets me apart on social media is I use my story to glorify His-story (GOD’s) and most people resonate with that because I didn’t get here on my own and neither did you.
So for anyone looking to grow your social media be consistent with posting whether you get 1 like/view or a million likes/views. You’re one post away but also add value and be sincerely truthful. Most importantly be you not who you want people to think you are.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
So being a walk on at Georgia State University was extremely brutal. Just because my family was battling poverty and homelessness on top of being a walk on at a division one football program. It was just a complete uphill battle nevertheless, I showed up every day before everybody and left after everybody with a smile on my face from the beginning of the day to the end.
No matter if I have food to eat, a place to go home to or not. Showing up everyday with a smile and a mindset ready to grind allowed me to not only earn a full scholarship, become a team captain, get nominated for NCAA award( Wilma Rudolph award), multiple academic awards, but to also become the first in school history to go to a bowl game and the first in school history to win a bowl game.
Even outside of that the resiliency allowed me to go play professionally and helped me pave the way from my two younger brothers to go be Division I athletes as well and go have amazing careers.
